I took that highway with both my dogs, one threw up (my mother in law's mistake to give her too many treats) - usually she is fine, but Highway 17 is way too windy even for my own stomach!
Don't feed your dog before the road. Just water.
Has she been in a car before? if not, drive her first to see how she reacts and if she is ok, then you can drive 2 hours...
Traveling in a crate might be better for that ride also.
I am sure your dog will like Santa Cruz ;-)
good luck.

We drove 400km back to my parents' home, the day we picked up our 9 week old stafford pup. A week later we travelled 1500km to get home as we had been on holidays we we bought her. She was wonderful in the car and still loves to get in there for a drive. We regularly drive for two hours to visit my in-laws (and take the dog and kids to the beach.
TIPS - take plenty of the water she is used to, 2 bowls and some chew toys. Don't feed her before you go in case she gets car sick. Make sure you stop in a park for a big run half way through the trip. Enjoy your break.

I take my puppy on long car trips all the time and she has always done fine, just supply a few toys and treats:). Make sure you make the car seem like it's a great place and you shouldn't have a problem getting her to go everytime you need to go somewhere. Take a test drive for a half hour or so around town to make sure she's not to anxious or doesn't get sick. Give her a treat when she gets in the car and periodically throught your drive so she associates it with a good experience. Remember to praise her when you get out!

I take my dogs on 2 hour rides to my parents' all the time. They do just fine. One of them sleeps in the backseat; the other rides in the front seat so he can see out the window. I rescued my younger dog about four months ago. I wasn't sure how he would be in the car so I took him on several short trips first. He did great!
My older dog rode with me from Florida to Oklahoma to visit family and he was perfect. I just made sure he had a couple of chews, food and a water bowl.

I frequently drive my dogs 2-3 hrs to dog shows & trials - no problem. HOWEVER they are used to it and not all dogs travel the same. Get a dog seat belt or a crate to have the dog travel in so he can't cause an accident if he panics..... not to mention he'll be much safer if there is an accident.

We take our dogs on car trips all the time. Just be prepared. Have it secure in a dog crate, bring water and a bowl, stop every hour for a fifteen minute walk.

At 7 weeks my last litter of pups and I all trooped 12 hours to go see a couple of longtime breeders to help me evaluate the litter. We stopped a couple times and all was well. Only issue I had was with one pup and winding roads... all my fault that I fed him and he got a bit car-sick.
I believe in exposing dogs to as many new situations as possible.

2 hours in a car should be fine provided she is not prone to car sickness. Adult dogs generally have no problem in the car for 2 hours or even more.
I had my dogs in the car for 36 hours when we moved across the country and they did just fine with potty breaks.

She should be fine. I take my Dachshund traveling all the time and she loves it! Just make sure and stop so she can do her business and drink water. You might want to pack a little food or a few treats too and a toy.
