Do you think this could be true?

Keep in mind that 'Ectoxia' is 17 & male + was recently supposed to be dying.

[Ectoxia.AL29] ["I don't know you, but thanks anyway"] says (20:31):
Cools, well I'm back for a wee bit, just had an interesting phone call, lol

Bethan. Every snowflake feels not guilty in an avalanche. says (20:32):
Oh? :L

[Ectoxia.AL29] ["I don't know you, but thanks anyway"] says (20:33):
Ehm, aye :{ Apparently, I'm 'elite', and may be joining the snipers :S
Which would be insane, lol

Bethan. Every snowflake feels not guilty in an avalanche. says (20:34):

Snipers...?

[Ectoxia.AL29] ["I don't know you, but thanks anyway"] says (20:35):
In the army
Y'know what a sniper rifle is? Basically a big gun, that's used to fire with pinpoint accuracy over a massive distance :) But they're really hard to get to grips with, so they don't just let everyone play with 'em

Bethan. Every snowflake feels not guilty in an avalanche. says (20:38):
Oh right
Surely you have to have the same basic amount of training as such as every other new recruit though?
Excuse bad spelling btw, no glasses on

[Ectoxia.AL29] ["I don't know you, but thanks anyway"] says (20:40):
Yeah, 'cept I kick *** when it comes to the firing range (H) Not that that's a good thing mind you. But it's one of the few things I'm good at, so I'm sticking to it, heh

Bethan. Every snowflake feels not guilty in an avalanche. says (20:41):
Fair nuf.
I thought you had to go away to a camp or something for training :S

[Ectoxia.AL29] ["I don't know you, but thanks anyway"] says (20:43):
I do, but I start tactical and operations training at a higher level than I would have before, which will be pretty intense I reckon :( But then after 2 months, I'll be shipped off to a specialist, and study the 'art' of sniping, get good, and then when I turn 18, I'm off :S

Bethan. Every snowflake feels not guilty in an avalanche. says (20:45):
So that's... March?

[Ectoxia.AL29] ["I don't know you, but thanks anyway"] says (20:47):
March the 9th, to either Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt or somewhere nearby, depends how things go. But if I'm with the snipers, then the chances are I'll be 'on call around half the globe, if any situations arise', apparently

Bethan. Every snowflake feels not guilty in an avalanche. says (20:48):
Ah right

You don't "join the Snipers". You join the Army, then, IF you are good enough, you get to REQUEST to go to Sniper School. You don't get to go right off the bat. Sniper School slots are expensive...( i.e. it costs the Army a lot of money to send you there) so not everyone gets to go, and the Army wants you to prove yourself before they spend the money on sending you there.

The present U.S. Army Sniper School was established at Fort Benning, Georgia, in 1987. The length of the school is 5 weeks.... not two years. You go in classes of about 18 or so. I'm told about 20% of sniper school is marxmanship, the rest is physical training and woodcraft... how not to be seen. How to move silently. Range estimation. making a Ghillie suits, etc. You don't "learn the art of sniping" from "an expert"...(what is this? The Karate Kid???) you go to Sniper School at Fort Benning Ga and learn from an NCO.

Solders do not call a "sniper rifle" a "big gun". A "Gun" is a piece of field artillery. A "sniper rifle" would be called a "weapon". It is a WEAPON not a GUN and you learn that in basic training.
The US has a number of Sniper Rifles right now... some are used by the regular Army, but Special Operations Command can get a few of the other ones.

Ask him what rifle he uses... A real sniper would know that the U.S. Army issue Sniper Rifle is currently the M24, though US Army has accepted a new sniper rifle known as the XM110 http://www.snipercentral.com/m24.htm

Snipers do NOT wear perscription eyeglasses.

Snipers are NOT "on call" around the world. They are INFANTRY SOLDIERS who are ASSIGNED to a particular INFANTRY UNIT. They are part of a UNIT. They are NOT "on call". They tend to work in two man teams, a spotter and a shooter.

This is what comes of watching bad and stupid movies.

Liar. Those who have been in combat talk very little about it. Those who are trained for covert operations talk even less than that. And a sniper would never call his weapon a gun!

sounds to me like this guy is trying to impress a girl online..he is hyping himself up to be something he is not. because you can not just immediately sign up for sniper school to my knowledge. i believe you have to be infantry first then if nominated by a commander then you can go to sniper school.
