Preschool has advantages and disadvantages. Whether or not it is right for your daughter is largely dependent upon her personal strengths and weaknesses, as well as the school you might send her to.
Some of the advantages of preschool are a structured environment, varied activities (including scholastics, art, and science as well as play), the opportunity to practice social skills (especially turn-taking), and the opportunity to develop confidence being independent. A good preschool will encourage all areas of growth and include them all in their programs.
Some of the disadvantages of preschool are the cost, loss of parent-child interaction time, and the opportunity to develop negative social skills. A child who goes to preschool/day care is more likely to initiate aggression in grade school than one who stays in a family setting. While a case can be made for a child standing up for him/herself, no parent wants their child to be a bully.
Go with your gut on this one, as you know your daughter best and can be trusted to make the best decision for her.

It's very important. You may think she knows a lot, but there could be a lot of things that she needs to learn at this time that she doesn't know. Plus school will help her learn to socialize & sit in a school setting. If you don't put her in preschool she could become educationally & socially behind. You could call around to check for other options in near by towns. But you need to get her in something. Depending on when her birthday is, a lot of 5 yr olds are in kindergarten already.

Super important. 1 out of 5 kids fail kindergarten because of falling behind. Dr's recommend that children go to pre school and pre k to assist in their social development. Call your local health dept and ask about a headstart program and see what your area offers.

Depends what your daughter is doing instead if she doesn't go. If you keep her home, try to get her involved in some "drop-off" activities where she learns to separate from you, take directions from other adults, and interacts with other children. Try to have lots of playdates/ interactions at the park/ etc. so she learns how to negotiate with peers. Have some times at home for reading to her, having her draw, write her name, etc. ... partly for the skills she needs to learn, but even more for the critical step of making sure her attention span is up to a level that will work in kindergarten. If your daughter has trouble paying attention, socializing, separating from you, or being in a group, it's probably worth putting her in preschool to get the practice she needs so she's not having trouble in kindergarten.
