Somewhere in Malaysia - don't know if it even had a name. So different from where I live in every way - a full 180. First of all, it was near a beach, and I am now totally land-locked - 1,000's of miles away from the nearest ocean. It was hot and humid there (near Kuala Lumpur and Singapore) year-round - but my current residence is dry (average humidity <10%) and has four distinct seasons. There was an article in the newspaper while we were there, about a maid at a local hotel using an outhouse and being grabbed and eaten by a tiger. Needless to say, that kind of thing NEVER happens here! And the food - delicious but kind of spicy, with lots of curry, and most cooked on a hot plate or over an open flame. Here, if I can't microwave it, I don't buy it. There - palm trees and spiders in them big enough to see from the road, and flying lizards in the back yard. Here, pine trees and the only thing that flies in my yard are bugs and birds (and most spiders small enough to stay out of my direct line of sight!). Still, I loved it there and would go back in a heartbeat!

Hope this helps.

I have traveled to Egypt which is an amazing country to visit, the history is amazing, also Thailand but I think the most exotic is Cambodia. It is heartbreaking to visit there because a lot of the people are missing limbs because of the land mines. Also the things that they eat there are kind of different. A lot of the restaurants there advertise that they do not serve dog, cat or rat meat. I spent the whole 3 days eating meatless pasta.

A little villiage well up the Oro Noco River. Second would be a remote villiage in the mountains between Haiti and the Domenican Republic.. there is no way I could compare those places to where I am from.
