all last week she hacked and coughed and sneezed all over the office. I suggested that if she didn't feel well, she should go home. She informed me that I should mind my own business. Now I've got that crap she had, and have to use a sick day. Am I right to be angry?

The guys before me have a point, you can't be sure you got it from her...... but I WOULD be mad, definitely. I've also had that happen to me a couple of times, and now I keep a surgical mask handy so *I* can wear it when inconsiderate ppl are coughing and sneezing around me at work.... you can't control them so you can only do the best you can to protect YOURSELF! You should do that next time.... wish you get well soon.

Yes, you do. A superior should have stepped in and sent her home. In the future, may I suggest keeping a bottle of hand sanitizer and Lysol on your desk. Every time someone is sick and sneezes, spray the air where they sneezed, and spray their desk when they leave it!!!!! Obviously you can't make THEM use the hand sanitizer but you can use it!!!

It is your business if someone has a communicable illness and comes to work anyway!!!

Where I work, if someone so much as coughs during flu season, they are likely to get sent home!

Common colds can be picked up everywhere, you could have picked it up from her, from someone in the supermarket, during a busride, from your kids, neighbors, friends, the concierge, your boss. Maybe you even picked it up from me, I'm also coughing and sneezing a lot last two weeks.

IMHO you could just as well,,, be angry for not winning the lottery.

Yes you do!

I am home today with a cold from others who came to school with germs. Since I am a teacher's aide, I am exposed to about 25 other people per day. That kind of exposure is going to hit sooner or later. Little kids don't know any better if their parents send them to school sick.

Now in your case, that lazy fatass should pay for your illness. Make sure that they know how miserable you were by staying home with "her" germs, then quickly walk away.

There's no point getting angry. If an employee shows up sick, everyone else is mad when they catch cold. If an employee stays home, everyone complains that the employee is a lightweight and a shirker and that they had to pick up the slack. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

No way. Millions of people get colds.

And besides, you could have got the cold off someone from just standing at a bus shelter, you can't be 100% sure it's her..

go back to work, be strong, and give the cold back to he.r xx
