Everyone says that the Muslim Community doesn't have the courage to stand up AGAINST terrorism. And honestly, it is partially true. We need to stand up against Terrorism. So how many of you muslims out there would be open to a Protest against terrorism. Or better yet, starting some kind of a foundation or organization. I seriously think we need to take the first step.. any ideas?

I totally agree with you, with the acception that the Muslim community doesn't have the courage to stand up against terrorism being partially true. That is hardly true at all. Many Muslims openly protest terrorism such as myself. The problem is that the bias anti-Islamic (and conveniently Zionist) media picks and chooses what to report, so why would it ever choose to report something good about Muslims? It has been spreading lies and rumors and misconceptions about Islam for a very long time, and there are enough ignorant people to believe it all.

Check out my blog on my Yahoo! 360 Profile...It is dedicated to denouncing terrorism, and if you have a 360, please add me as your friend and comment on my blog...I haven't been on 360 for a while now that school started though...

Azure S:

Awesome points and answer! Agreed! By the way, there are actually several Islamic organizations dedicated to condemning terrorism, such as MAT (Muslims Against Terrorism).

Dark Prince:

An organization like that already exists :) And it is called MAT (Muslims Against Terrorism). But the media would never show that it exists because, well, frankly, why should it? The media is anti-Islamic.

I don't think I can answer your question. :/ I'm a Christian myself but I try to understand other religions. I would say you can blame the media. There is so much hate speech about Muslims because of Muslim extremists. The truth is, I also live in an area where there is a big Muslim community (more and more people as the days go on) and I think simply because their culture is so different from what we're used to seeing, and they don't try to mesh with our society, it just seems different and people have a history of being fearful of things that are different. Not only that but to be perfectly honest, the boys are distant and disrespectful to all women (or rather, the women who don't follow their belief's) as far as I've seen. I understand that that might be part of their culture too, but it's off-putting to say the least. They're also quick to be hot tempered and get angry easily. I don't know what that's about. That's just been my experience. Of course, I don't judge new people I meet based on these notions. Every individual is a different person. I can say this though, the women that I've met are perfectly polite and kind, for the most part. Like I said, each individual is different so none of this really applies to Muslims as a whole.

Personally, I've seen a lot of Muslims take public stands against terrorism in a lot of news stories and statements.

However, for some reason, I keep seeing non-Muslims posting that Muslims don't speak out against terrorism. Its like some sort of weird selective blindness and deafness.

Actually, some sort of highly visible permanent organization just for that purpose might help. At least there would be a quick and easy place to point to when people say that Muslims never take a stand against terrorism.

I've noticed that when fundamentalist christian terrorists in the US bomb abortion clinics, or other places, you don't see the media talking about how christians aren't speaking out against terrorism. In fact, I'm not sure I've even seen the word terrorist used in that context. Have you ever seen the phrase "christian terrorist" in any major news story? It should be there, but it generally isn't.

If the supposed Muslims that oppose Terrorism would stand up then it might be believable that they exist. But so far non_Terrorist Muslims are like Big Foot, everyone talks about knowing someone that has seen one, but no one actually can document seeing one. Maybe therefore Bigfoot is a Non-Terrorist Muslim?

The first thing you need is an ounce of courage. 1 liter of 151 will suffice if you can't find the real stuff.

Next, book a one way ticket to Tehran. Wear your best clothes to show respect. Walk into the first mosque you see and declare your protest right then in there. If Odin in his wisdom is on your side you will exulted as the new leader of Iran.

But if you smitten by Loki they will tear you to shreds.

Great question!

I understand there are already Muslims who speak out against terrorism. The problem is, they aren't given much publicity by the media.

You remind me of those Christians who want to get out the message that Jesus is not a Republican. The media ignores them, too.

Try putting Muslims Against Terrorism in a search engine and see what you come up with. Write letters to your paper and hope they are published. Start a website. Talk to pacificist Muslims you know or have heard of.

God bless you much!

There already have been many efforts, individual and community and through the media.. perhaps those who say the opposite have not seen such efforts in their own communities or cities. For those of you who think that way, remember that the world does not revolve around your own city or country, and remember that there are millions of muslims residing in many other places in the world..
Wherever you may be, Saraa, find out what muslim organizations or groups are active in your area and go speak to them, give them your help or your suggestions. If you're lucky, you'll find an organization that's willing to listen and take action..

You cannot protest against Islamic terrorism and be a good muslim. A good muslim knows the koran and it's context, and follows Muhammed's example.

Most muslims are good people, which makes them bad muslims, according to Muhammed. According to him, they will suffer a painful punishment.

Not my opinion, I'm just reading his book and going by what it says. Reads an awful lot like a terrorist handbook to me. Yeah it's flowered up with a lot of praise to allah and empty words of forgiveness, but any cult leader does that to mask the awful truth.

And don't be fooled by the conciliatory passages from the koran that are trotted out by CAIR and the like to show how tolerant and peaceful Islam is. Most of these came from the Meccan period, when Muhammed had no power and had to placate the powers that be. They were subsequently abrogated by his more violent and hateful surahs from Medina. What kind of a God can't make up his mind, and has to take things back and contradict himself?

I am not Muslim, but I agree with you. It would be a good way to counteract the hate and prejudice you are experiencing as well as show other Muslims who may be drawn to terrorism that it is not the answer. I commend you on your idea and hope it will come to pass.

Thats a good question. The thing is first of all we need to realize that America and Israel are not the major causes of our Problems. We need to let go of that established thinking and start to see how corrupt our politicians really are. I think world today needs more tolerance and Love. I think we can make a website on such awareness but i really like your question. Keep up the good work!
