Does freedom of religion extend to a religious group that kills or advocates the murder of those who offend it (through freedom of speech)?

To the people who say that Christianity has a terrible past...show me where the word of Christ justifies the acts to which you're referring.

I can show you where the Koran and other Islamic texts condone the behavior of the so-called radicals and extremists of the Muslim world.
Furthermore, show me when in Jesus' life he did anything to promote evil...again, I can list a huge # of terrible things that Muhammad did to people. Islamic doctrine teaches that Muhammad (MHRIH) was the exemplary Muslim...he's the dude that Muslims should emulate in all things...and he was a murderer, rapist, torturer, pedo, thief and warlord. (BTW, before anyone says it, I don't care if what he did was done because of the circumstances or the culture that he lived in -- I don't give a d@mn about Muhammad's motivations, and if, in our times, he would measure up to be a nice chap or not. Problem is, Muslims are supposed to take him AS IS -- not translate his behavior to a kinder, gentler time and set of circumstances -- and that is from the so-called 'words of allah'...BIG PROBLEM there for proponents of a peaceful, kind Islam)

Murder is against the law, not a whole religion.

Uhhh, and mind you there are 6 million Muslims in America. If your conjectures were anything more than lies there would be 6 million dead non-Muslims....I've never killed anyone, never intend to and am a complete believer in all teachings of Islam.

I find your question fecicious and offensive. You should respect others, that's what the first ammendment was for. DOn't act like u know our religion or purposely try to provoke us.

How low.

I do not sink to those levels of game.

Peace.

No. Islam doesn't call for killing people. Murder is haraam and is a sin in Islam. Anyone who spills innocent blood will be among the first people to be judged and taste the fires of Hell on the day of Resurrection. That's racist by the way to ban one religion. The West is getting all their oil from the Middle East. Do you really think the Middle East is going to keep allowling oil to be exported to countries that ban Islam?

No.

1) Only a tiny proportion of Muslims are radical extremists.
2) What's the point of fighting to preserve freedom if you're going to destroy that freedom voluntarily?
3) Imagine the reprisals in countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia. It doesn't bear thinking about.

That's a tough question.

Clearly Islam is evil and is not compatible with either civilization or democracy. It opposes EVERYTHING we stand for and is the driving force behind most violence in the world. Obviously every person on the planet would be better off without it around.. but banning it takes us to a weird place, and I'm not sure it'd be for the best.

No. Islam doesn't condone killing people for speaking their mind. I think many people have reached the limit of freedom of speech.

No. For Western democracies to ban Islam outright would be to violate the very precious rights of freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of assembly.

However, the government might have the right to close any house of worship that has been PROVEN to be mainly a training ground for violent, criminal acts. I doubt that most mosques would qualify.

No. I am an atheist, and I believe that everyone should be able to worship whatever they want, no matter how ludicrous. If someone wants to worship Elvis or even Charles Manson as gods, go right ahead, it is their right.

Yes, Western democracies should ban Islam because Islam is the gutter religion. You know, Salman Rushdie is correct.

No it doesn't. We should ban Christianity since it has a horribly violent past.

Oh wait, did you think Islam was bad? Take a look at what Christianity has done.
