This is a very long exposure image.

The model will need to stand extremely still in a location without light.

Use a film speed of 200, set your camera on a tripod and set the shutter speed to "b" for bulb.

Use a high-intensity lightstick (glowstick) to "paint" the wings on the figure. (you should not show up due to the long exposure - be sure to wear dark clothes and gloves though)

When you are done lower the shutter.

Be prepared to have to try this image several times to get the exposure right. Images like this take a lot of practice.

Looks as though the photographer did an old trick.

Dimly lit room - very dimly lit

Camera on tripod

Manual Mode

Shutter set to "B" or "T"

F-stop maybe 2.8

Cable release locked to hold shutter open for maybe 45 to 60 seconds

Use a focused beam flashlight to "draw" the design. May have used some sort of template since the design is fairly consistent. Done from behind subject

An even cooler effect would be with colored lights.

Now you need to email him and then tell me how good my guesses were. Please.

Ask the photographer per the site you linked to:

Okay, it's time I discuss how I did this since everyone's starting to ***** at me. So here's my little exerpt of, "this is what happens when you have east wind mixed with a bursted lightbulb".

I think that should do suffice for now. If you'd like to know exactly how I did this piece, please send me a note, and then we'll correspond with trade secrets to select methods of photography.

.This technique is refered to as "Painting with Light "It can be done with any type of light source flash, light bulb, LED,ect . Flash can be used to light up certain areas of a building at night or light up a tree at night LED's are a great pin point light source for drawing line's of light in the night.Just like the photographer did with the Angel wings.
