Is the butter we use for buttering our toast salted or unsalted. I can never remember. Lately I am seeing a lot of baking recipes calling for unsalted butter. What happens if you use salted butter instead. Would your cookies or whatever turn out okay?

Usually it is salted. Unless the package specifically says 'unsalted'. Cookies would turn out OK, but you might want to adjust the recipe if it also shows salt added. You probably see more recipes for unsalted due to the populations problems with salt and the related health issues.

I prefer unsalted or sweet butter, but we more commonly buy the salted. Actually unsalted is preferred for most baking, but if you use salted, just use a little less salt than the recipe calls for. Use the unsalted if you can though. Pretty much every brand makes both salted and unsalted... even the store brands.

I don't think it will make a difference on the salted butter for cookies, since most cookie recipes ask for a little salt to bring out the sweetness. good luck, I like them both, to tell you the truth I don't even check if they are salted or unsalted.

Most of the butter you buy in the store is salted butter. If you have to use salted instead of unsalted the rule of thumb is to omit about 1/4 teaspoon salt per 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter.

The butter we use for Toast and general everyday stuff is salted. You can use that in any recipe even if it calls for unsalted. You'll just be adding a little more salt to the recipe.

If you use salted, it will make your food a bit saltier. Land O' Lakes comes in salted and unsalted.

I would use unsalted if it calls for it. I've tried it the other way, and my cookies just weren't as good.
