CJ- "They must believe that Jesus, who is God, died for their sins on the cross and rose again. Same with every person on earth"

Catholics believe this - it is doctrine - yet some say Catholics are not saved.
How can this be!?

Any other thoughts about what is necessary for Salvation?

C.L. - you don't REALLY believe that, do you? That's a bit of a stretch. Not the same Jesus and God? I guess Catholics don't have Bibles like you do? Oh wait - they have the original unaltered Bible, not the one with books missing from it. Oops!

Ailes:
That is the most retarded thing I have ever seen.
They can't even attack what the Bible really says, they just attack what they say it says.
Way to be intellectually honest, people.

CJ is right that the beginning of salvation is to believe Christ and put faith in him. For example, in John 3:36, "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."

However, salvation also requires repentance. Jesus' first preaching message was "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” (Matt 3:2). He urged us to pluck out our eyes and cut off our hands if they prevent us from returning to God.

But that's not all, either. Jesus requires Christians to be baptized (Mark 16:16; John 3:5), renounce control of our lives (e.g., Matt 10:39), obey God by doing what is right and just (e.g., Luke 10:25-28; John 12:50), adopt the humility of a child (Matt 18:3-4; 19:14), eat the bread of life (John 6:51, 53-54), and endure to the end (Matt 10:22).

None of these are mere suggestions. In each case, Jesus told us in various ways, do these things and you will live.

Cheers,
Bruce

Depending on whom you ask:
Catholics, the eldest of Christian faith has always believed that through the knowledge that Jesus Christ is our Lord and salvation is gained through Him and Him alone is but the first step. We also, according to Christ himself, need to know that God is whom we should worship with all our heart, mind and soul. Also we need to love our neighbor as we would want to be loved. And finally also spoken by Christ, leave all our baggage, our belongings and follow him, the story of the Rich Man in Mark. These are spoken from the lips of God, and these are the way into Heaven.
If there is one thing I have learned since CJ came on board is that the poor soul has issues with Catholicism, and he knows no truth but his own. similar to the case also in Mark with the Pharisees, Herodians and Saducees whom tested Christ just before condeming Him because they knew He was definitively the Messiah and knew that He would bring about a change they were not willing to partake in. That is ok, Christ handled it, to where those who witnessed it were amazed, and so should we.
God keep you and bless you always.

The big chasm is the sufficiency of Christ's death on the cross for the forgiveness of sin. We believe His death was totally sufficient for the forgiveness of all sins of all His people. If you believe you have do anything to be forgiven, redeemed, justified, sanctified or glorified, it is a works based salvation, not Biblical, and another gospel. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Anything else is another gospel.

Gal 1:6 I wonder that you are so quickly turning back from the One having called you by the grace of Christ to another gospel,
Gal 1:7 which is not another; only there are some troubling you, even determined to pervert the gospel of Christ.
Gal 1:8 But even if we, or an angel out of Heaven, should preach a gospel to you beside the gospel we preached to you, let him be accursed.
Gal 1:9 As we have said before, and now I say again, If anyone preaches a gospel beside what you received, let him be accursed.

Col 2:18 Let no one condemn you, delighting in humility and worship of the angels, pushing into things which he has not seen, being puffed up by the mind of his flesh without cause,
Col 2:19 and not holding fast the Head, from whom all the body having been supplied through the joints and bands, and being joined together, will grow with the growth of God.
Col 2:20 If, then, you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why are you under its decrees, as living in the world?
Col 2:21 Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch,
Col 2:22 which things are all for corruption in the using, according to the "injunctions and teachings of men." (Isa. 29:13)
Col 2:23 Which things indeed appear to be a matter of having wisdom in self-imposed worship and humility, and severity in abuse of the body, but are not of any value with regards to gratification of the flesh.

The Catholic God and Jesus are not the same as the true God and Jesus. The Catholic church mixes whatever Paganism it pleases into Christianity, the end result NOT being Christianity.

Edit: Yes I do believe this, and no it's not a stretch. It's common sense. Your denial doesn't make it any less the truth.
