Only some antibiotics reduce the effectiveness (they don't cancel it out) of birth control pills.
As for when you start to ovulate-it's impossible to predict. Some women start right away (think about the women who get pregnant when they miss a pill) while others can take as long as six months to begin ovulating again. If you're trying to get pregnant and you've recently stopped taking the pill, you can try using ovulation predictor kits or charting your cycle-check out fertilityfriend.com or the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility to learn more about how to do that, but it involves charting your basal body temperature (your temperature taken with a special thermometer first thing in the morning, at the same time each day, as soon as you wake up, before you sit up or get out of bed or have a drink or brush your teeth or do anything else) as well as the position and texture of your cervix and the condition of your cervical mucous.

Yes, this is very true! Thats why so many women choose birth control, because their fertility comes abck shortly after stopping the bill. An antibiotics can reduce the effectivness of your birth control pills, but there reallyisnt enough studies to back that up.
Are you hoping to get pregnant? If you are, then good luck!

I ovulated within a week of going off the pill and ironically, it was the only time i ovulated on my own until I started clomid and metformin (took 2 years to get pregnant). My doctor said it is very common to ovulate quickly and a lot of my friends got pregnant as soon as they started trying.
Good luck!

Actually, after you go off the pill there's a chance you won't ovulate at all for a few months while your body readjusts. Every woman is different, but you probably won't conceive in the first three months, maybe not even the first six months. Miracles have happened though!

I ovulated about 2 weeks after I stopped taking the pill and got pregnant. I thought it would take a few months, but it didn't. Lucky for me we were trying to conceive.

Your body will ovulate as soon as the level of hormones in your body allows it to. Its different with each woman. You can get pregnant while ON birth control, and certainly fairly easily coming right off.

Ovulation does not always occur so quickly after stopping the pil...it is an old wives tale.

yup! I took BCP for six months because I couldn't get PG. I had ovarian cysts. I quit my pills Oct 31st 04 and was PG by Thanksgiving 04. Took less than 1 month!
