Can the apple and use either stock. ( add celery if you have some) would be good with rice added also.

Why not buy the boxed broths. Those cubes have a huge amount of sodium. The boxed usually comes in low sodium. I would think you could use either flavor, but I'd nix the apples too. I love apples, and love 'em in pasta salads, reg. summer salads, and apples with natural pb, but that sure doesn't sound good in a hot soup... esp. with a beef broth. Or since your soup doesn't have meat in it, how about a vegetable broth? It would be in the same place the other broths. Come to think of it, doesn't make sense to use a meat based broth with that soup. It's very flavorful. I'd add some chopped or thinly sliced celery too. After the soup is made, take the serving size you're going to serve, and add some whole wheat egg noodles, or white flour egg noodles if you must. Any noodles added to soup should be done that way... at serving time so that noodles don't get cooked, the reheated the next time you have it. They're always fresh and never overcooked.

Forget the apple in this. If you are going to add any sort of meat, then use the chicken stock cube--if not, use the veggie, adding in some potato or pasta or even rice to make it a bit more filling.
