I am travelling from Boston is few weeks to L.A to take the LAPD test. I was wondering if is there any other option besides a taxi to get from the airport to any motel in the vicinity of E. Temple Street in Los Angeles where the test is taken. Are there trains from the airport ? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

There is direct bus Flyer from LAX to Union Station( 30min) for $3, or you have to take G shuttle to Aviation station and Green line to Blue line and Red line( 1 hour) to Civic Center Station (in Temple Street) for $5 day pass .

There are several hotels in Downton near financial area, one hotel across the union station for $79/night

Why don't join SFPD, which is highest pay in nation, start salary $72000.

"Tom" is correct about the transportation. The Flyaway bus would be your better choice, you don't want to be burdened with toting luggage on / off the Metro line trains. Don't use a taxi, the fare would be prohibitive due to the distance. The LAPD Academy (if that is where the test will be) is near Dodger Stadium, and there is a not -too-expensive Super 8 motel just outside the park. If the test is in downtown avoid hotels on/near Alameda Street, that is the"skid row" district.

I work at LAX. There are several forms of transportation. Of course taxis are the most expensive. Shuttles are your best bet. When you get your baggage, go outside (you will be on the lower level) you will see several colored signs. The shuttles are under the Orange sign. Dispatchers are right there. You can also take the Union Station Flyaway bus. Under the Green sign. But you would have to take other transportation from Union Station to your hotel. And the same with the Metrorail system. The shuttles will take you directly to the hotel. No other form of transportation is needed. Email me at kingsleydr60@yahoo.com and let me know which hotel you will be staying at.

there are no trains from lax to dowtown la. your best bet is to either rent a car, all the major car rental companies are at lax, or find a hotel that has a free shuttle. There is no hotel that I can think of that offers a free shuttle from lax straight to downtown la, but there should be a few that are halfway there. Based on the hotel location you can either take the subway (there are very few stops and sometimes hard to locate a stop close to where you need to be) or take a bus. Your best option really is to just rent a car, so you won't be late. Good luck!

your best way is take the flyway to Union station then board
the LADOT dash bus "C:"
both buses service the transit plaza (the flyway lets you off
at Bay 9 the Dash Bus picks up at Bay 3 or 4
and will take directly to the city personal dept
which is where I think you will going)
cost is $4.00 for the flyway and 25cents for the dash bus
note if you have to take a taxi there is a flat rate of
$42.00 from Lax to downtown LA)

kaya, listen to peddlepub and mobilemark (we do this for a living---LOL)--they know what they are talking about...FLYAWAY is a good solution......(or you could check into Primetime Shuttle if you HAVE to go straight there)
