Anywhere from zero to certain. Was there any witnesses? Is there video surveillance in the parking lot? Did he file an accident report with the police?

The chances of catching the person are very small.

Have your friend to contact the principal of the school and ask him/her if the school had surveillance video of that portion of the parking lot at the time of the hit and run. Many schools have public/hidden cameras in their parking lots.

Best of luck.
