No they are not.
However they are the best for the missions they are trained to do.
for example.
secure a beach head - marines
secure an airport - rangers
train indigenous fighters - SF (green berets)
anti terrorism - Delta
water based opperations - SEALS
recover downed pilots - para rescue
small unit land warfare - rangers
recon - marines recon, rangers, SF
snatch & grab - SEALS, DELTA
to the guy below me..while the seals are capable of operations on land, air, and sea...that doesn't mean that they are the best in each area, nor does it mean that they are the best option for each mission.
6 yrs infantry army, sgt and worked with a seal team to get rid of a enemy sniper team in iraq. Was very impressed with the seals, but also know that we crossed trained with some of them back in the states.

No, the most USEFUL for the War On Terrorism, is by far the US Special Forces. This was stated by a Former Navy SEAL. They are the most useful because of their capabilities (Training, languages, etc).
They are equally trained, they wouldn't make counterparts of each other better than one.

Actually, the US Specwar guys have become VERY "Joint" over the last decade + SEALS, Green Berets, Delta, almost share now !!
There ARE some specialities still... but I'll tip my cover to any of them.
I've driven the bus for a few team-guys before.

Green brats are good but do not hold a candle to the seals. The seals as well go behind enemy lines and train the locals to help fight. The marine recon are 2nd along with sniper scouts.
To the guy above me What do you think seal stands for!

From what I have read, yes.
However, 25 years ago when I was not so old, I was not impressed. Even as an old man, I can qualify for being a seal, except for age and the inability to swim.

It depends on what you deem the best is. Each branch have their own brand of super soldiers from green berets to seals to rangers. If you are looking for the best in the water I would go with the seals, but if you are looking for the best on the ground I would probably go with the army rangers. No matter who is the best, they all put their lives on the line to protect me and my freedoms...so they are all the best in my eyes.

EVERYBODY thinks his unit is the best nit in the Military.
Do you expect a unit to say " we're number two?"

The SEALs are well-trained to do their jobs, and take pride in doing them well. That's all I ever need to know.
