I have a few questions about Homecoming, but first a few details. My daughter is on the homecoming court, her father is in NC till October, so a family friend will be her escort, does he buy the flowers, or do I buy them for my daughter? When she gets her hair done, should she wear her dress, keep in mind that it has to go over her head. Should I dress up as well??

It's up to you and the escort about who buys her flowers. Most of the girls I know whose fathers didn't escort them chose a friend, but they weren't extremely close, so the parents did buy the flowers. Check with the school or another person who knows how it's done in your daughter's school: I know of some schools who provide the flowers.

I definately would not get her hair done in the dress she'll be wearing. That's just asking for a stain or a tear or little hairs all over it. Have her wear a button-up shirt (not over-the-head) and help her into the dress at the right time. Just hold out the neckline and the rest of the dress to provide as wide an opening as possible, then slowly fit it over the hair.

No, it's not like if she were getting married and you are the mother of the bride. You don't have to dress up, unless you are also escorting her (moms can do this, two girls in my school who are known for kind of breaking tradition had their mother, a widow, do all the escorting duties, because they wanted someone they were really close to to escort them.)

If a mom is escorting her daughter what does the mother wear? The daughter is wearing a suit with hat. Can the mother wear a dress with a sweater?

You buy the flowers. Why take chances.
Wear a nice outfit that you would wear to a high-level business meeting or to church. You get a corsage too.
Talk to to the hairdresser about her hairdo and whether she should wear her dress or not.
Arrange for another family friend to take videos so Dad can at least see the event.
