*****I am saying some...not all religious people******

The whole prayer in school, prayer in work, prayer everywhere...I don't get it. Is there some law keeping people from having their religion? Keeping them from praying in their own private life?

I mean why when this comes up do people act like it is not possible at all to have thoughts, ideas, beliefs, religious convictions without government forcing people to have them?

I just always thought religion was about me and God...not me forcing you to listen to my prayer or forcing you to pray with me.

alleninthehills> I see your point, but again I ask why do you need the school to do it? Are you incapable? Is YOUR religious clergy incapable? Why do you need a school to bless your kid? Did I miss that passage that says "And only thru the schools shall my power be felt"?
It would only take 30 seconds, you are correct. But does your kid need a school blessing that bad? Your church can't do it? The church I went to growing up threw blessings around like crazy, so I assume that your kid is not lacking for blessings. Also that God would bless your kid ANYWAY if it was warrented.
The school accepts responsibility for your kid and keep them safe, teach your child while being restricted from dealing with kid's behavior, gets your child all the way thru school, and after all this that they do you are pissed they did not say "God bless you"?
Sounds ungrateful to me, and makes no sense since a blessing should be personal, not a group event

Religious *****NOT ALL RELIGIOUS***** are trying to force their beliefs into the government for reasons of control. The same thing happened to the Roman Empire...and we see where that lead us to. Its all about pushing a religious agenda.

You miss the point, I don't want nothing shoved in your face, what you do is up to you. But when My son spend 12 years to get a diploma can you tell me that out of those 12 years that it would have killed you or anyone else at a graduation ceremony to simply have had someone, anyone ask for God to bless these kids? 30 seconds? is that too much out of 12 years?????? if you are Jewish you belive in a creator If you are Muslim you believe in a creator, If you are christian you belive in creator, that is 87 % of this nation, but we must bow down to the 13%??? and that right? Sorry I disagree,

You are right, religion should be a private act. If it was this way with everyone, atheists like me wouldn't feel the need to come onto sites like this. I do it because religion has become a restriciton in my life, so I need to do something about it.

I wish more religious people were like you.

An atheist

It is so that the followers of a certain religion can use the government to convert by force those that don't follow their way.

Christians seem to think that because they believe, everyone must. So we all have to be subjected to their beliefs and prayers at every turn. Too bad they don't remember that their own book tells them to pray in private, not in public.

It's because they know that if religion had to rely on its merits and its own appeal, it would fall flat on its face. In order to be successful, religion has to be maintained though fear, intimidation, false promises and aggressive proselytizing.

I don't know.
Jesus said "Give to Cesar that which is Cesar's. And to God that which is God's"
The original statement about separation of church and state.
