I have been called an atheist many times on here, why is that? I do belive something was here, but I don't belive in any "true" God(s). So why is it that in real life I am called an atheist? And even on here I am called that. And I'm not agonstic, for I do know my belifes, I just don't belive that a god could be all powerfull and stuff.

and I am not ashamed of being called that, it just bugs me a little that so few poeple know there are more the faiths with Gods. There are many faiths where nobody worships a God at all, but they are not atheist

Because for most people atheists are people who don't believe in God, which is not an entirely accurate defination. You do believe that there was some sort of higher power, which may or may not still be present, which makes you something else, I'm not quite sure what.

"true" god(s)?
so you believe in what, "fake" god(s)?
let's put it simply: dictionary defintion of an "atheist" is one who denies the existence of a "supreme" or "supernatural" being(s).
So if that's what you do, then yes you're an athiest.. and it doesn't seem to bother you to be called that..so?
by that definition you could also be called a "nontheist"
isn't it funny how the word "atheist" can be viewed as the phrase: " A theist" ...?
the english language is messed up

Well, the definition of a god includes being all powerful. What you believe in is not a god. Thus, you do not believe in gods, which is the definition of an atheist.
People call you that because it is accurate.

According to my dictionary, an atheist is: "one who denies the existence of God".
This is generally taken to mean belief in the existence of the Christian God, who is omniscient, omniscient and omnipotent. If you don't believe in our God, in that sense, you are indeed an atheist

atheist isn't a four letter word. It just means someone who doesn't believe in God. I think there is an inherant assumption that when you say "God", you mean all-powerful. You are an atheist.

Either you believe in god or you don't. If you don't then you're atheist, for that is what the word means: Without a belief in god.

Why do you say this as if being labeled an atheist is a bad thing? If you don't believe in god, you're an atheist...like it or lump it.
Atheists don't believe in anything? I believe in plenty of things...just not god.
