you have to be able to get the children to agree on something. that is going to be the hardest part, and once that is done mom and dad can fine tune it. fishing is a good hobby. lake ,river and stream fishing get the family into the country where camping is also fun .while surf and ocean fishing put you in a boat or on the beach. all of these activities can include enviormental education and help to teach the children and yourselves about how beautiful our planet is and how imporntant it is to keep it that way for the generations to come

Cycling.

Ride out to a country pub for a meal. Find some quiet roads or cycle paths. Pack a picnic etc. The possibilities are endless.

Get comfy lightweight bikes though, the cheap rubbish heavy ones will put everyone off bikes for life.

bowling! At first I was against it, but it is really so much fun... and good exercise ! I eventually became good enough to join a league and bowl in tournaments where I made new friends. Your family will do the same. Give it a try! Oh... don't eat the bowling alley food. It's clean and very good but your but twill soon be the size of a Texas barn!

We've just started Shotokan Karate about 8 months ago (I really hope I've spelt that correctly!) - it's great exercise - excellent self-discipline, brilliant self defence, and a fantastic tool for confidence building. At Tournaments the emphasis is on CONTROL - no one wants to hurt anyone just to win a match.

Geo-caching. Its like an international scavenger hunt - you get to be outside (hike, bike, etc) and find little interesting things hidden by other people and you get to leave a little something for others to find. Cheap, or free, and great on the weekends.

I suggest you get a puppy! You could walk him, train him, play ball with him and when he gets older you could take him on camping trips, really long walks which each family member could take turns in finding a suitable walk, arranging picnic etc.
