As a Dealer myself, I can tell you from personal experience that the wait happens more often than people think. 99% of the delays that I have had for customers has been due to someone with the same exact name having a criminal record during the initial check. It is then forwarded to another department and then a hands on file check has to be done to make sure you are not the other guy.

Relax and wait it out. I can tell you that they will flag you information and this probably won't ever happen again....

depending on the state, the guideline is this, they do a phone in background check. This can take from 15 minutes to 3 days to complete depending on how common your name is, how busy they are etc. BUT, after 3 days, if they have not gotten an approval or denial, you can go ahead and pick up the shotgun. This is the deadline set under the law.

Uhh when you buy a gun from a store they do an expidited background check. That means faster than usual. So you should have been able to walk around the store for fifteen minutes and then pick up your gun. Where did you buy it. Sounds to me like they aren't doing their job. i would go check and make sure they are actually going to give you your gun. it all depends on where you live also. i live in Texas and it is pretty easy to get a gun here. So maybe thats why it doesn't take as long. if your in Texas then you are getting stiffed. You should go back up there and ask for your gun and say three days is ample time to do a background check. Then bring your gun home. Good luck, and hope this helps.

Just bought one today and it took 5 minutes to clear. It doesn't make sense to me why you are having to wait an unreasonable amount of time.* If it was me I would go back and cancel the sale with them and buy one somewhere else.*
