There are plenty of religious explanations for passing gas in church...
"It's the soul of a pious bean ascending to Heaven"
"It's the Rapture of the Bowels"
"My intestines are speaking in tongues!"
"Hey! Can't you recognize a baritone 'Looooord!'?"
"I am possessed!!"

Passing gas is a natural body process, why would it be a sin? It's rude, but I don't think the man is going to be condemned to hades for passing gas in Church. Yes, it would also be very rude AND disrespectful to laugh at him in Church also, especially since you are an adult. I don't know where you get that the Bible is "against" laughter, though. What a sad world this would be without laughter. There may be something wrong with him that causes excess gas. OR maybe he has a colostomy--can't stop those and they make noise constantly. Ease up on the old feller--or go sit somewhere else. I'm sure it's embarrasing for him, but at least he comes to Church.

If you are really a churchgoer and you really do read the bible, you would know that passing gas and laughter does not go against it's precepts. Do you remember Jesus at the Wedding at Cana. He enjoyed himself. God has a great sense of humor and encourages laughter. In fact,I know God will understand me laughing at your feeble attempt to put down Christianity.

Laughter is not against the Bible, but derisive laughter is, so it's best you keep silent. Besides, wait till YOU get old and have the same problem. It's not as if he can control it. What ever happened to the famous 'tolerance' everybody's always proclaiming?

No its not a sin to pass gas in church or anywhere. It is a natural bodily function that we cant always have control over. Especially older people. The older you get in life the less likely you are able to control it at all.

No it isn't. Neither is laughing. The Lord wants us to feel joy, how could laughter be a sin?

it is if you're farting in the middle of the service on purpose because you're being disrespectful to God. if you try not to, but it happens anyways, then no, that's not a sin. laughter does not go against the Bible, but try not to because he's old, he probably doesn't realize he's doing it or he can't help it.

God wants us to laugh, but not at others, unless they're laughing too. Basically don't make fun of other people. I think passing gas in church is very disrespectful, but I think your borderline laughing isn't really your fault. You should just try to concentrate on the sermon.
