32-33 are the Jewish leaders accusing/questioning him.. Jesus answered in the next verses. It is interesting that they accused him of being claiming to be God. Christ does not deny it, rather, he quotes from their own law as justification and not only that, but he quotes a scripture mentioning 'gods'. Also interesting is that the greek texts do not differentiate between Gods or gods.

31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

He is saying he is a God and the Son of God. (not necessarily one and the same person! Otherwise, why the need for 'Gods'.

Hi, Amleth:

Jesus is trying to say that the works He did substantiated His mission. In the previous verse 30, He said: I and my Father are one.

Jesus did mighty acts that could only have been done by someone professing the powers of the Creator. When brain cells are deprived of oxygen for a mere five minutes, the cells have degraded. Yet the great I AM raised several people from the dead including Lazarus after four days. In addition, He multiplied food, controlled the elements, foretold events and read minds.

He reminded His adversaries that if the mighty works He did were done in Sodom and Gomorrah, they would have repented long before.

Yes, Jesus is our God. He walked in Eden with Adam, bargained with Abram on Sodom and Gomorrah's fate, He was in the fiery furnace with the Hebrew youth, with Gideon, by the seaside with the disciples, and will willingly reign in your heart, too.

The only verses that the Bible says you can not understand them until the end of time are now unlocked. They, among other essential truths, prove Jesus is the Messiah.

What Jesus was trying to reveal went beyond John 10:32, 33.

After Jesus had said: "I and the Father are one," the Jews wanted to stone Jesus. Why? According to their words, they said: "...for blasphemy; because you, being a man, make yourself God." (John 10:33) Did Jesus agree with them? No. He proceeded to quote Ps. 82:6, where imperfect human judges were called "gods." He used that verse to say that if it is not wrong for the "law" (the Bible) for humans to be called gods, then where was the blasphemy when he called himself "the SON of God"? (John 10:36)

By using the scripture that called human judges "gods", Jesus was pointing out to them that since the scriptures called human judges "gods" and the religious leaders didn't think this to be blasphemy, they had no reason to accuse Jesus of blasphemy because he said he was, not God, but God's son.

Jesus knew that he was not God because he himself said that his father(God) was greater than he was. (John 10:32-39; Psalms 82:6,1; 1 Corinthians 8:5; John 14:28)

That even when he gives the miracles requested to believe, it does not change their hearts, they saw and still did not believe.
