I predicted they would break out that bad immigration bill into little pieces and try to sneak it through. It also has an H1-B increase. No wonder they want to 'give' us 'free' health care - more of us will be unemployed!
I am calling at lunch!

The GOp had 12 years to fix the immigration system. Instead they sat on their butts while 12 million people entered teh country illegally. They also did not bother to enforce the existing laws for 12 years. The GOP had a chance to support a conservative reform bill this year. Instead they blocked. Now we are going to get more liberal reform bills. If the right-wing doesn't like that, tough. They had over a decade to do something--and chose not to. Now they can take the consequences.

Why does the government think we should spend American tax dollars educating foreign nationals?
Where does the idiocy stop?
What about my daughter?
What about her college education?
She's an American- I don't see anybody going out of their way pushing legislation for the lower middle class to get assistance for putting their children through college so that the families aren't saddled with exorbitant loans while becoming constructive citizens.
Politicians spend way too much time coddling those that spend too little time doing the right thing.

How would you like to live in Pa. where we have Specter and Casey always trying to sneak in Amnesty, and their voice mail boxes are always full, with people telling them they are against it. I don't know what it is going to take for these politicians to wake up and stop amnesty, like most Americans want. But today. I also took another approach, it cost me $60. but worth it, I went to, grassfire.org and sent faxes to, 100 Senators and the President, to let them know, I am against the dream act and any sort of amnesty.

Your own reference site reports that the "Senate" is trying to "sneak Amnesty into our country". The Senate is comprised of both Republicans and Democrats. The Bush-Kennedy Act (interpret that as Republican-Democrat Act) is also bi-partisan, probably because both sides of the aisle see 12 million potential voters that they don't want to alienate.
There might be other considerations as well:
1. Any law trying to round up 12 million illegal aliens would be virtually unenforceable. The government can't even process passport applications expeditiously, much less try to send millions of people back to Mexico;
2. No fence or wall is going to keep people out; fences or walls can be blown up, scaled over or tunneled under;
3. Our own Statue of Liberty welcomes the poor and the downtrodden who are seeking a better life for themselves and their families by emigrating to the United States;
4. Finally, if we start belly-aching about "illegal immigrants' we will soon find ourselves in a bit of a sticky wicket: most Americans today are descendants of the FIRST "illegal aliens" who started coming over here four hundred years ago and first settled in Jamestown. Choosing not to learn the native American Indians' language or adopt their cultures, these new "immigrants' instead cheated Indians out of their land, ran rip shod over the native Americans' crops and natural resources, and massacred thousands of "savage" Indians for no other reason than they were considered "uncivilized". As the Pilgrims became "frontiersmen", they stole more land from the Indians; slaughtered buffalo for the sheer sport of it, leaving carcasses to rot on the Great Plains; eventually placed surviving Indians on 'reservations' (out of sight, out of mind); and then imported black African slaves to be sold, bought and traded as personal property (while all the time writing a "Declaration of Independence" that claimed all men were created equal). Unless you're a full-blooded native American Indian, your ancestors were among the first "illegal aliens" who came over to this "new land", raped and pillaged its natural resources, and devalued everything native Americans considered sacred. So why should we - the descendants of the first "illegals" - deny the bounty of America to those who wish to come here today? Our ancestors did it "illegally" - who are we to judge the 'legality' of those sneaking across our borders now?? -RKO- 09/18/07

It all comes down to money. They (Dems and some Reps) need money from big business owners who profit from illegal workers and special interest groups who support illegal aliens.
Just called and emailed my Senators. Thanks for the update.

I have a couple guesses thats all. One votes. Two tax money from their pay... But someday we will all know. You know it is illegal or they would not have to sneak it in other bills. They think we are too dumb to notice. LOL. We will see wont we?

I believe the Democrats see the growing number of Hispanics as potential voters, and they are, as usual, willing to sell the country in order to be elected and stay in power.
The alarming thing to me is, there are always a handful of Republicans that support this.
To be fair, there are a handful of Democrats who consistently oppose this type of legislation.
