the only problem is that it can make you drowzy. I take it and have for many years. I used to take it at night, but forgot so much that I started taking it in the morning when I take my other medications. I have had no side effects or felt dizzy, but each person is different. Use caution till you find out how it affects you.

Does Singulair Make You Drowsy

I took singulair for a while, and my younger sister takes it every day (she's in grade school). As far as I know, they're just cautioning you in case taking it were to make you drowsy. However, I'm pretty sensitive to most medications and I didn't feel drowsy at all (i took mine in the morning). See how you feel and go from there, but taking it during the day shouldn't be a problem at all.

What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking montelukast?

You should not use montelukast if you are allergic to it.
To make sure montelukast is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:
- asthma, or a history of severe allergic reaction to aspirin.
The chewable tablet may contain phenylalanine. Talk to your doctor before using this form of montelukast if you have phenylketonuria (PKU).
Montelukast is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment.
It is not known whether montelukast passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
