My father-in-law is a dentist and I asked him a lot of questions. He said that electric toothbrushes are actually better if used properly, you have to brush the gum-line as well. Hard bristle are bad, so choose the soft bristle type. A water pik is good, but it does not replace flossing, so make sure to floss twice a day. As for alcohol in mouthwash, it does not have any detrimental effect especially since you usually spit it out and then rinse. Peanut butter and any food can be bad on your teeth if you don't brush and floss twice a day, but otherwise no food really causes any problems.

Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years and the answer is NO. As long as the brush head has the proper angle and brissles that reach all areas of the tooth then it is fine. The very expensive ones are not necessarily the best ones. In fact, I have tried several I did not like because they seemed over rated. If you are getting good results have healthy gums and teeth then why change? If it works for you, then keep up the good work!!! M ps don't forget to floss.

naw they don't work any better just cost more money. something that works really good is the new dental floss that has toothpaste right on it gets up in there and cleans things out really nice. I had all kinds of brushes over the years, water pik, fancy shamcy expensive ones and I just get the cheapie battery dollar store brushes now they do the same exact thing!

My dentist told me that if I did not floss, the expensive electric toothbrushes were the next best thing. I still have not bought one though. I just don't have the money to buy one with.

You can get the same results with a regular toothbrush or a cheapy electric or a expensive electric one. It just depends on how much you want to spend.

I have a Sonicare and I love it. It was recommended by my dentist and I feel like I just left the dentist after I use it!
