Doesn't that strike you as being a little inaccurate...compared to the regular Bible.

We're not talking about the accuracy of the "regular Bible," we're talking about the fact that other childrens Bibles are taken from it.

In John, the last (21) chapter, it tells about one of Jesus appearances to his disciples. Some of them had gone out fishing during the night, and as they approached land spotted Jesus (after his resurrection) standing there. Peter throws off his cloak and swims to the shore while the other disciples brought the boat in.

When the others arrives, they find that Jesus has prepared a breakfast for them on a charcoal fire near the beach. It is while they are eating this meal that Jesus deals with Peter and the three times that he had betrayed Jesus just before the crucifixion. Just as Peter had betrayed Jesus before a charcoal fire that night (the only other mentioned anywhere in scripture), so at this charcoal fire Jesus ask Peter three times to reaffirm his love for him. It is then that Jesus calls him to the position of an apostle.

This is the last event from the life of Jesus that the Gospel of John records.

No that is in our Bible as well. That just shows you that Jesus always thought before He acted. We as Christians follow His example in our Church and have a prayer breakfast.
The Lord wanted a conversation with His disciples and give His instructions to the disciples, what better way than a breakfast, after they had been working all night fishing, They thought He was gone for good and were depressed. He encouraged Peter and left a good message for us all to follow.

I think it's a lovely way to tell children and it makes it simple for adults as well - which is what's needed sometimes. How often do we hear it said ' the gospel is simple it's us that make it complicated' -- Peter went to fish - the others followed - they caught nothing - Jesus called to them - 'haven't you any fish'? - they said no...Jesus said throw your net in the right side of the boat - the catch was huge - Amp version John 21v9 says when they got on land (beach) they saw a fire of coals and there were fish lying on it (cooking) and bread...
Sounds wonderful to me - and it's accurate -
what do you mean 'the regular bible'?

well, he was cooking fish on the beach

John 21:8-10 (King James Version)

8And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.

9As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

10Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught........

He did another miracle which was His custom

He did do that. It was the first many of his friends saw of Him since the crucifixion. My eldest who's 6 always asks me to jump from the Last Supper to Breakfast on the beach. She can't listen to the bit in between.

He said: "Come and have breakfast" and they saw some fish cooking on a fire. There's no record of whether he actually prepared breakfast or if Nigella had paid a flying visit.

That is the story after the Resurrection of Christ when Peter is restored to fellowship after denying the Lord 3 times.

"...as compared to the regular bible"? Is there confirmation of any kind that what's in the "regular bible" is at all accurate?
