No, as long as you do not come here with a chip on your shoulder. If you don't like America but like the benefits it brings we will probably not like you. If you love America and want to be a part of it, welcome.

These are difficult times, I wish we could look into a persons soul and see their true intent, but with the events that unfolded in your area of origin, that may not be the case. Americans have been scared by the events of 911, our own open door policy on immigration and visas were used against us.
I can tell you this, the obstacles that you will encounter (for the most part) will be generated out of fear.
The only advice I can give you is to try to become a active member in your new community, and let every one see that you came here for a better life, and you want to contribute to the American dream.

There are a lot of Iranians in some cities in the US. Large cities in America are very cosmopolitan and diverse, and you will have no problem. If you are going to a rural area or small town, then you may encounter some problems at first, until people get to know you. But don't worry. There are many Iranians here and they are doing very well.

I have a few Iranian-born friends. They have embraced life in the USA fully and whole-heartedly and besides coming legally, that's all we ask. Nadir flies an American flag in his yard. His wife, Roya, volunteers at a homeless shelter.
Reza speaks out against Iranian policy frequently and says he would never return to live there if they paid him the value of all the oil in the world.
They are great people and strongly pro-USA and that's truly what we want to see from immigrants.

It probably depends on where you intend to live. If the area is already diverse, then you will probably be okay. If not, you might not be looked down upon, but be looked at with suspicion on whether you're connected with a terrorist group etc. It just can't be helped. Think of how, as an American, I would be looked at if I moved to Iran right now. The atmosphere is rather charged at the moment. Good luck and welcome in advance. :-)

Personally, I wouldn't behave like that, but the political climate here will likely result in some incidences of discrimination being perpetrated by stupid individuals.
Don't blame ALL of us for those rare infractions. An unjust accusation of that nature would be a form of prejudice itself.
Avoid the tendency to point out the flaws in our society to strangers. That could cause "defensive" reactions.
Please keep in mind how some people in your home nation may react when an American is in your country. Most may be quite nice, but some will hate them just for being an American.
You may anticipate some of that type of behavior here also. It is human nature. Don't fear violence in America. That type of activity is highly illegal here, and though not impossible, it is very unlikely. Just stay aware of your surroundings when out on your own and not in the company of friends.

Some will look down on you, most will be welcoming. Honestly, most Americans won't be able to tell you're Iranian unless you tell them where you're from. If you just tell them you're Persian or Kurdish, as the case may be, most of the ignorant, prejudiced people won't realize that that means they're supposed to hate you.

Some people may be a bit suspicious of you, but most of us are a bit more accepting.
My finace immigrated from Iran just under 2 years ago. She hasn't had any major problems (at least not that she's told me about).

Heck no! Come on in and don't forget to visit us in Texas! I'll teach how to make barbecue (the CORRECT way [only Texans know the secret]) and even promise to ix-nay the pork.
Sounds like your English is already pretty good and you'll probably choose to move near or with friends/family to adjust quickly. When are you coming?

We will look up to you if your motives are wanting to become an American. We will look down if you want to be an Iranian who just happens to be living in the USA.

You're coming from a country that holds "death to America" rallies.. so that's always going to be a problem for you.
But Americans are the most tolerant and diverse people in the world.. you'll be OK.
