It is ridiculous. No wonder born-again Christians only make up some 5% of the Christian population.

Faith isn't just believing you're going to heaven no matter what you do. That belief is actually blasphemy, because it suggests that God is indifferent to sin, and is OK with evil.
In relation to heaven, faith is the belief that heaven exists, even though you haven't seen it, and there is no physical proof that it exists.
In relation to sin, faith is the belief that God's justice is perfect, and that someday the good will be rewarded, and the wicked will be punished, even though you actually see the reverse of that happening here on earth much of the time.
I've never heard of "Born Again" clubs BTW - sounds like a group to avoid........

ok, so as a firm Christian i'll tell u that its not just faith that gets u2 heaven. u have 2 believe that CHRIST dies on the cross and rose again 3days later. the BIBLE is great 4 answering these questions so even if this doesn't help, u can always read the WORD and pray and ask GOD ur questions and HE will answer u! and u don't just sin as much as u like, u have 2 try not 2 sin as much as u can! but because our human nature is to sin, we end up doing it with out even knowing it! so how 2 get 2 heaven in a nut shell.......
1-u need 2 believe that JESUS died 4 ur sins and then rise again 3days later; and believe this with all ur heart.
2- have faith in HIM!!! know that HE is GOD!!!!!
3- trust in HIM!
now i know this probably doesn't make sense but, let me suggest that u go 2 church, and ask the pastor ur questions! i'm positive he'd be able 2 help u!
i'll be praying 4 u!!!!

No. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and then you are saved. And you don't believe if you continue to sin with impunity. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Confused? It's not hard. It's sort of like believing that there is air to breath. It's like believing in love. Or in trust. Or in any of the other senses and feelings that aren't tangible.
Lots of people believe they are going to heaven, but don't act that way. Maybe they will show up, maybe they won't. I don't know.

God and only God knows our hearts - who we are deep down inside. Someone can say they are a christian until they are blue in the face but if they are not walking their talk they will have some explaining to do when they die. Faith goes much deeper than just believing you are going to heaven, my friend. You CANNOT sin as much as you like and make it to heaven. It is more complicated than that. Your flipant question, now that I think about it, annoys me.

No, that's called ignorance. Faith is believing what you cannot see. Faith has nothing to do with sinning and going to heaven.

Not all denominations believe that (actually the majority don't). I have faith, I believe I am going to Heaven, however, I am also not perfect and will occasionally make a mistake. Because I have 'faith' that God will forgive me, I can ask for forgiveness and He will forgive me. This does not mean however that I can do whatever I want because I know God will forgive me: God only forgives a truly repentant heart (and believe me, He knows who is and who isn't repentant!). Only a fool would haphazardly live as they want thinking they'll be ok in God's eyes because they asked for forgiveness ___ (fill in the blank) years ago. It is dangerous to live that way, because once you die it's too late to ask for forgiveness.

First of all, being Born again is not a club!
It's a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Secondly, no, you cannot lead a sinful life and expect to go to heaven. I don't know where you are getting that from, but, that's not right. ALL OF US ARE BORN IN SIN. We must be BORN AGAIN. REPENT OF OUR SINS (that means to turn away from our sins) and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then, live your life according to HIS WILL, NOT YOUR OWN.
It sounds rediculous what you said because you didn't say it right. God knows our hearts, and He knows who is saved and who isn't. We can't just say we are going to Heaven, then we go.

On the contrary, faith tells me I'm going to heaven if I live
my life as close as humanly possible to the example provided
by Christ -- this effort must be sincere. It isn't ridiculous,
and the high road is far from the easiest path.

You sin just like everybody else so don't act like your better. Trust me your not! Sinners go to heaven because they have received the gift of payment that Jesus made on their behalf. We are saved by faith in the Atonement that Jesus provided on the cross through grace which is God's gift of unmeritted favor.

Never. Anyway, "grace" is the word you are looking for.
There are many Christians (all Christians are "born again", which are Jesus' words, so don't say them with such disdain) such as the Nazarenes and the UMC who believe you can lose your salvation.
In the Bible, Paul is quite clear about this in Romans and a latter Epistle. Grace doesn't give a license to sin.
No Christian believes that it does.
