JnK is right on the numbers. When you compare that to over 300,000,000 in the country as of 6 months ago, thats less then 1%.

Always amazed at how FEW of us are on active/reserve duty... a mere 1% or less.
IF you include the VETERANS... everyone of them currently living... you'll still only reach 5% of the total population.
