I'm an American Muslim woman married to a Saudi Arab who is also Muslim. It's alright. I don't like the kissing greeting that Muslims do to each other. I only got kissed once by one of the Saudi woman which I thought was weird. I have had to abandon my culture and get used to Saudi culture but I am happy to do that. Your husband might keep you separated from the men and his male friends since they aren't supposed to see women who aren't related to them. That's what my husband does anyway. He always sends me to the bedroom when a man is in the house so I am not seen by non mahram men. You'll have to drop all your male friends if you are Muslim or even if you marry a Muslim man. Arabs from my experience are very jealous and protective of their women. I know me being sent away is for my own safety and protection and I've gotten used to that. It might be hard if you marry a Muslim who is Asian or Arab because there will be different cultures and you need to decide if your culture is worth more then your husband's culture. But it's nice being married to a Muslim. They respect their women and treat them like queens.

About 20 years ago my aunt met a man @ college who was from Saudi Arabia, they fell in love, she converted her faith from Christianity to that of Islam. They moved back to Saudi and had a beautiful home on the Persian Gulf. My Uncle was a very important person in the Saudi Government, my Aunt had servants and a Chauffeur. Although, she did not tolerate all of the Islam beliefs including the man taking another wife. Her father in law had two wives however her husband never did. About 5 years ago she decided she was no longer in love with him and wanted to divorce, she wanted to come home to the States. He granted her the divorce. What did this cost her? She was allowed to leave the country, however she was forced to leave her 5 daughters behind. I don't think it's worth it. Anyway, that's what happened, is it right or wrong? That is for God to decide.

if you're about to marry the guy then you should know what he is like. But being a Muslim myself, a good Muslim husband (if he truely follows Islam) would be very loving and respectful .
Rella, real life is not like Hollywood films. SHould I rent ''Enough'' before I marry a Christian man ?

Well my friend's uncle married a Muslim girl and, because of the religion, he had to convert to Islam...
They have a son who doesn't know English and is 3 years old...He gets up before his son, and gets home about 6 or 7 at night....the kid stays home with his mom(who is from turkey) that beats him and yells at him....
Not rude remarks...just the truth.

I am a Christian, not a Muslim. But I know of a true life account of such a scenario. You can read about it in the book "Not Without My Daughter" by American housewife Betty Mahmoody and co-author William Hoffer. This book was also made into a movie with the same title starring Sally Field and Alfred Molina.
