Every time that I go to the dentist, I tell myself that everything will be alright and that I can handle it. I am nervous for at least a week before hand, even if it is just for a routine cleaning. I end up acting like a child, not wanting to even open my mouth. My denitst is really nice and understanding, but I feel really bad. I just want to know what to do and how I can calm myself down. I already get Nitrous anytime I actually have work done.

I agree with the last poster, get an anti-anxiety medication. Talk to your dentist about it, they are usually willing to help. If not, you need to switch dentists. Some denitsts even offer sedation. Sedation might be the right choice for you. Good luck

Why not ask your dentist to write you a script for an anti-anxiety med you can take before each dentist appointment? Otherwise switch to a dentist that caters to cowards.
