My mom uses onions in almost all of her cooking, it doesnt have any effect on me. But when I cook and start cutting up onions, my fingers will be very very itchy after the cutting. Sometimes, after excessive scratching, i will have small bumps on my fingers. Ususally, there are liquids in these bumps. Am i really allergic to onions?

You might be. But there is a volatile chemical in onions that can prove to be an irritant to your eyes or skin.

Since you seem able to eat onions without any side effects, you might want to use a food processor of some sort to handle the chopping.

Good luck!
