It'd go down. The christians would disapprove, and the atheists would remain disapproving because of his lies, deceit and general idiocy.

Way down. It's essentially impossible to get a presidential position in the United States without being a christian, and if Bush was viewed as an atheist he would be just about universally hated.

In a perfect world, it should not affect his approval rating. His approval rating is supposed to reflect upon his performance as president, and, as such, should be immune to fluctuation due to belief, or lack of (separation of church and state). This being an imperfect world, I expect that his ratings would go down, since I think only ardent proponents of his religious beliefs are still his fans. and approve of him. If he declared himself a nonbeliever, he would lose their support.

His approval would go even more down than it is now. I am an unbeliever every time I look at those horrible gasoline prices. I cannot believe they could ever get so high.

DOWN, because the only people backing him are fake 'Christians', and the real ones would withdraw in horror at having worshiped a monster..
In fact, many people are questioning their loyalty to the Bush family ever since after September 11.

Even more current news:

AND
http://www.onenewsnow.com/2007/01/methodist_leaders_challenged_f.php
But Bush isn't an atheist, nor is he a Christian, nor a Methodist. Their family uses God like we use toothpaste, to brighten their facade.
George W.'s religious beliefs as stated by him are only "I have a private relationship with God."
Since they are known to go to the Bohemian Grove and participate in the 'Cremation of Care', a fire ceremony in which a body is burned while members scream, moan and sing...How can anyone think of them as Christian?
The ritual itself is ancient and goes back to the Annunaki in the time of Sumerian writings. In the Iraq museum in 2003, cunieforms were taken that contain the story of these people. It is said these are the earliest writings of man, and contain information about visitors from the sky, or 'gods'.
As I understand it (correct me if wrong) the Annunaki left Eridu, banished. Eridu is located about 22 km to the south of Nasiriya, IN IRAQ.
At http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eridu
"It can very well be that Eridu is linked to the Annunaki.
Some modern researchers, following David Rohl, have conjectured that Eridu, to the south of Ur, was the original Babel and site of the Tower of Babel, rather than the later city of Babylon, for a variety of reasons:
The ziggurat ruins of Eridu are far larger and older than any others, and seem to best match the Biblical description of the unfinished Tower of Babel.
One name of Eridu in cuneiform logograms was pronounced "NUN.KI" ("the Mighty Place") in Sumerian, but much later the same "NUN.KI" was understood to mean the city of Babylon.
The much later Greek version of the King-list by Berosus (c. 200 BC) reads "Babylon" in place of "Eridu" in the earlier versions, as the name of the oldest city where "the kingship was lowered from Heaven".
Rohl et al. further equate Biblical Nimrod, said to have built Erech (Uruk) and Babel, with the name Enmerkar (-KAR meaning "hunter") of the king-list and other legends, who is said to have built temples both in his capital of Uruk and in Eridu. "
Interesting? To say the least.
Eridu is the site of the early sacrifices and it is said if the 10 kings of 10 countries come together at Eridu, Moloch will appear, and open a gate to the underworld, where they will live forever. The sacrifice at the Bohemian Grove is given unto Moloch (Mollech, or Marduk), sometimes said to be the creator of the Annunaki. You can watch this ceremony on YouTube.

The Bush family has gone to the Bohemian Grove for years. Now, they didn't start this thing, I know. But they are willing participants in it. I wish more people knew this stuff, they'd all cringe at the thought of the Bushes as 'Christians'. Well, everyone except the people who do this with them.
"Opinion is good-fact is better."
Please look at the links, and maybe your own 'Bush approval rating' will go down, readers.
*athiest, Thanks for a great question! That was cool!*

Neither.
The 36% who "approve" would be unswayed. My friends and I have actually showed our Bush-supporting "Christians" ample footage of Bush revealing his true beliefs, but they claim it is a look-alike, staged by the liberal media.

due to the massive amount of disbelief it would raise, it would fluctuate by the minuite making it become a completely randomly generated number between 1% and 100% until the end of his presidency.
