I used to use Frontline on my dog, but it got too expensive. I recently purchased Bio Spot because it costs less. Anyone else use Bio Spot on their pet, and does it work?

The only thing that I have found that really prevents fleas is **Sentinel** by Novartis! Available only from your vet after a negative Heartworm test!
I have used Sentinel for years with no adverse side effect!

Yes. We use Bio-Spot for all the dogs in our adoption program, and have had much better luck with it than with the big name (and frightfully expensive) products. It is an all natural product which is better for the environment and also for the dog (or cat). It does contain pymethrins though, so I would not use it on any pet that has seizures.

Bio-Spot also works on ticks, which is an even better reason to use it. Ticks carry some nasty diseases that can really hurt your pet, and some of those tick borne diseases can be harmful to humans as well.

We usually use the Bio-Spot in conjunction with Capstar, which is an oral flea product that begins killing fleas within 30 minutes. When we bring greyhounds from the track, I give them a Capstar before we leave the kennels, and by the time I get them to their foster homes, most of the fleas on them are already dead (you can see the little buggers fall off dead). Then we Bio-spot and all the eggs, etc that were on the dog die as they hatch. We also use the Bio-spot shampoo as it is the only one I've found that doesn't strip the spot on treatments off the animal.

I am including a link for Jeffers Pets which is where we get out Bio spot and Capstar from. Their prices are the best I've found yet, and they are very reliable and quick .

Don't use any more Bio Spot on your dog until you read this..........Put in the search...Is Bio spot safe for dogs.... then scroll down until you come to Bio Spot, Consumer Alert. Read this and form your own opinion. This dog almost died, went into convulsions, foamed at the mouth etc. Owners used Bio Spot. Had to be rushed to the Vet. Maybe what you can do is stay with Frontline only use half a vial each month to save you money and know your dog will be safe using a good product.

Bio-Spot like other OTC flea products(Zodiac, Sargents, Hartz, etc) can be very dangerous to your dog.It can cause serious skin irritations, neurological issues, seizures and death.
The insecticide used in them is very concentrated and is not meant to be used on skin, human or pet. It is also a far different flea killer then that used in Advantage, Frontline.
While it may seem expensive to use flea products from your vet it is a whole lot less expensive then what you'll need t otreat your dog if it gets a serious problem from OTC products..it is less expensive then the life of your dog.

I too used to use the Frontline but, it got too expensive and started NOT working properly so, I started using ZODIAC which is available at Petsmart/Petco etc.. It's $13 for a 4 month supply and I've NEVER had a problem.. I do bursh my dog out really well and give her a bath before I apply it and I apply it BEFORE she goes into her crate for the evening. It's no problem... good luck

I use Bio Spot on both of my dogs. They are hunting dogs so they are outside a lot. It works great! It does stay on their coats a long time so you might want to keep them off of the furniture. It smells like oranges so I don't mind it being on their fur.

I like Bio Spot, but because it is not waterproof and my dogs like to swim I had to go back to frontline. I love the smell of it too(citrus).

Absolutly! It works awesome, I have never had any problems. I love the stuff; I've been using it for 2+ years on my two dogs. FYI - it is cheaper at fosters and smith (www.drsfostersmith.com) that at the big box pet stores

I've used it and it seems to work but I don't particularly like it because it stays greasy on the dog's fur. I started using Frontline again.
