Your husband needs to make sure that you and any other dependents are enrolled in DEERS. You can go to your local Tricare enrollment office, look it up at www.tricare.osd.mil, and make sure you're in enrolled in DEERS and then choose a primary care doctor that accepts Tricare. Unless you were enrolled at the time the medical bills were incurred, Tricare will not cover your past bills.

There is a system called DEERS that you need to be enrolled in. If you have a military id, you are enrolled already. if so, you need to find a Tricare office in your area (some are inside the nearest base medical clinics and some are freestanding offices, you may be able to find them online @ the tricare website). The Tricare office will be able to set you up with a primary care provider, and assign you a military clinic, depending on the situation, you won't always have to be seen there.... If you don't have your ID yet, there is some paperwork your hubby will have to sign, and you can go do it. Just a suggestion, If you have already started a family or plan on it, when they give you the option I would enroll in Tricare Prime, neither cost anything, but with Tricare Standard, if you go see a doc out in town there are co-pays, but with prime if they refer you oout in town , it's all paid for. Good Luck to you!

You already have Tri-Care Standard, the insurance for civilian medical care for dependents of active duty personnel. Your policy number is your husband's social security number. You also have to provide his rank and service. The effective date is the date of his enlistment. Tell your doctors. offices to submit the claims for payment. You do have a deductible to pay. It'ts the first $150 for each fiscal year (that's from October 1st to September 30th of the next year) and 20% of the amount over that.

You already have insurance. If you don't have any of your paperwork from tricare, that's okay. All you have to show is your military I.D. If you live on post, you can go to any of the medical facilities, and someone will help you. They will either tell you which facility your suppose to be at, or help you right away.

Others have pointed out the salient facts on DEERS and Tri-Care.
I'm ex-Navy, but the principles should hold... IF he is in basic still, I'm unsure who you'd contact (check with is recruiting office). But any further along, and each he's at command should have an "Ombudsman"... a civilian/spouse who assists the other spouses with such information.
GOOD LUCK.

They might go back to when he joined. You already have the insurance when he signed up. Call him and find out the numbers. His commanders office knows what to do.
