Well some dobes aren't breed with the brown patch's or rust what some people call it. I own a red doberman great dog sweat, loving with my family and a freaking fast learning and smart. When I walk him at nights and someone is running behind me or walking in front he puts himself between me and that person, overall with some instruction he be a good guard dog because that what the breed was created for guarding.
Rotts I love them look mean and some breeds breed the Roman Rottweiler 140-160lb dogs great learner and sweat heart.
German Shepard great doors never owned one or had anyone who owned one. But very smart.
Theses 3 breed I mention are great breeds for a guard dog, with proper training. My dobe weighs in 90lbs and he is only 8months old and when he is full grown 110-115lbs, all theses dogs are big not many people will mess with you or your house if they see a dog like that.
This link offers great dog training mainly German Sheppard but they also train dobes and rottie's bad thing is cost is bit much but worth it if you a high profile person or just has a really really nice house.

I don't know that you need a dog at all. You are all over the map with regards to the breeds you are wanting and the rationale you have for dismissing or liking one or the other just doesn't make any sense. You won't get protection from a dog if you don't have a relationship with it regardless of breed. If you want a companion dog, maybe going to a local shelter and finding a mid-size dog that you can do some training and learning with would be beneficial. If you are concerned about your wellbeing maybe be careful where you go and stay with friends. If you are concerned about your parents home needing protection, they should be able to get some help with either an alarm system, security service or something like that. Depending upon a family companion for protection isn't very wise as the only thing one has to do to eliminate that protection is to shoot it. My dogs do protect me but that isn't the reason I got them nor is it the reason for their existance.
ALL dogs would need lots of training regardless of if they are for protection or not but if they are primarily for protection then they will need quite a bit of training and if you are hesitant to give the time needed for that, then please, protect yourself some other way.
The decision to get a dog and what dog to get should be left up to your parents as they will be the ones paying for its veterinary care and will be caring for the dog itself. Hopefully the will do a bit more homework and thought on the idea than it appears you have.
PS Weight doesn't define a dog breed in any breed. Even if there are limits specified in a standard, dogs go over and under weights all the time and that doesn't change their breed name :)

Actually to correct some people, the st bernard is NOT the strongest, or tallest, or heaviest dog breed.
The dogo argentino was bred to hunt wild boar, jaguars, pumas and other large dangerous aggressive game.
They are also The strongest dog breed.
They get 24 - 28 inches and 80 - 130 pounds.
http://www.chien.com/CFDA/images/dogo4.jpg
http://www.animalinelmondo.com/images/cane/dogoargentino_01.jpg
Then its the american bulldog the second strongest dog breed. They have the weight pull record of 14,300 pounds or something close. They get 22 - 28 inches and 76 - 140 pounds.

http://www.k9breedlist.com/images/Lance__Lesli_Rose_American_Bulldog.jpg
Then the 3rd strongest dog breed is the bullmastiff. They were bred to outpower and overpower humans no matter how big or strong the person is. They get 24 - 29 inches with 28 prefferd. And 90 - 140 pounds ( Sometimes more )

http://www.ourdogs.co.uk/BreederDirectory/images/bullmastiff-greendragon.jpg
Then the 4th strongest and also the heaviest dog breed is the English Mastiff. They were bred to do the same as bullmastiffs, but also to fight lions, wolfs, tigers, bears, and other dangerous animals. They get 28 - 36 inches and 169 - 250 pounds.

http://dl.dogomania.com/pics/15/ikar_z_ola.JPG
Then st bernard they were bred to cary humans long distances and also to sniff under snow. They get 25 - 30 inches ( Some have been know to reach 35 inches ) and 135 - 186 pounds ( Some have been know to reach 220 pounds )
http://www.pedigree.com.sg/breeds/images/st_bernard.jpg
http://www.dognews.com/pedigreegallery/working/images/SAINT%20BERNARD.jpg
Then rottweilers they were bred to pull VERY heavy carts with loads of stuff in them sometimes even a family of people. Also to guard. They get 23 - 31 inches with 28 prefferd. And 80 - 130 pounds ( Some can reach up to 160 pounds )

Also no dog has locking jaws. The rottweiler has the strongest bite force of all dog breeds, then german shepherds then mastiff breeds, then American Pit Bull Terriers. The Bull Terrier is the strongest per size or pound for pound. Then American Pit Bull Terriers and American Staffordshire terriers. The American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier Are equel as the 17th strongest dog breed. NO DOG IS BORN AGGRESSIVE.
The heaviest dog breed is the English Mastiff, then tibetan Mastiff then St Bernard.
The tallest dog breeds are the irish wolfhound, then scottish deerhound, then leonBerger, then great dane and english mastiff tied.
Also the American Pit Bull Terrier get 22 - 70 pounds.
( Anything over that is a mix or simply NOT An american Pit Bull Terrier ) and 18 - 23 inches. Also they are one of the best dogs for kids. Also there is only ONE Breed that can be called a "Pit Bull" And thats the American Pit Bull Terrier.
Also Mastiff breeds ( Rottweilers, bullmastiffs, american bulldogs, english mastiffs.ect,..ect,... ) DO NOT Need to be trained to guard, its an instinct. And theres not one person in the world that could mess with any mastiff breed.
They were bred to guard, fight, and work.
All dogs have a pack genetic hardwired into there DNA. So you just have to display pack leadership, stay calm and assertive and ANY DOG BREED WILL BE GOOD WITH ANIMALS KIDS AND DOGS.
P.S. My sisters boxer gets along amazing with my border collies and mastiff breeds, and my boxer female. Also all dogs are trainable.

I'm sorry I didn't really understand your question... You want a "guard" type dog but you've "cancelled" out certain wonderful breeds... ? I have a rotweiller.. .She's wonderful.. Good with kids, wary of strangers and a fast learner.. We took her to good citizen training as well as did some of our own training and she's really, really good...I think with ANY type of dog its' good to go to some sort of training.. Especially with large breeds... to teach the basics and to learn how to handle such a dog.. For example we NEVER play tug with our dog, she's just too strong and with little ones you never know ! We also made sure that she is mouth gentle and that she "gives" up toys, treats and even food.. This is very, very important that pets aren't aggresive when they are fed or given treats.. We can give our dog popcorn in our fingers and she'll take 3 bites and then take it from your hand... We didn't want her "snapping" at the children.. So, it doesn't matter what breed of dog you get as long as you take the time energy to train him/her.... Good luck

I would not go by breed. There are pros & cons for every breed. I would go to the pound or several rescue missions & find a dog you like & then have it trained.
You don't want an aggressive dog, you want a dog that is confident & strong spirited. But it will need to be trained in protection training. Most dogs are not aggressive & have to have the training in order for him/her to be what you want. There are many ways to bring out the aggression when you need it but the dog needs to be conditioned to bite & only when provoked or commanded to.
It is not a simple thing to achieve but a dog needs special training to be reliable.
Many people think they know how to make a dog aggressive but it not the same as if the dog is professionally trained.
Find the dog that you want & have it trained by a professional.

well the saint bernard is the biggest dog by mass and muscle according to the guiness book of world records they were also voted the best for human and especially children companionship they are very loyal to their master and they can tackle any threat short of a gun that any person might threaten you with and they are okay toward strangers too but they can sense when the owner is afraid or tense so thats when they protect and if you calm them down theyll be okay so the saint bernard is probably a good dog for you I clipped this little exerpt from wikipedia i hope i helped you:
The St. Bernard Dog is a very large breed of dog originally bred for rescue and as a working dog. A full-grown male can weigh between 150 and 220 lb (68 and 100 kg) and the approximate height is 27.5 inches to 35.5 inches (70 to 90 cm). [1]
According to several resources they are one of the largest dog breeds. There are two varieties of the breed: the short-haired or smooth-coat variety and the long-haired or fluffy-coat variety.
The Saint Bernard is known for its loyalty[citation needed] and vigilance[citation needed] and is tolerant of both children and animals. Because of these traits, it has become a family dog. They also make good watchdogs, as their size can be startling to strangers[citation needed], though their temperament is mild.

I personally own an Australian Cattle Dog and he has tremendous protective instincts along with being extremely loyal, hardy and a very versatile dog for obedience and agility training. They are not good with small children however.
So, to answer your question, there are several perfect pure protection dogs( Cane Corso, Presa, Fila, etc.) but very few that meet every bit of criteria listed above...lol. One however that you may want to look at is the American(not British or French) Bulldog. They look intimidating, they will protect you with their lives , extraordinarily loyal, they're very active and they are very, VERY good with kids. They are also excellent alarm barkers. Check em out. Excellent all around guard dog.

I would not get a Dalmatian. I had one and he was too aggressive. I don't believe in the idea of getting a dog for protection b/c most people do not know how to train them for that purpose. go to the shelter and take some for test walks--you'll find one there that you like.
