I must say I have never understood the "only faith saves you", your deeds are really worthless view of chrisianity.

The fact that I could lead the most vile, murderous, thieving, whoring life and on my death bed repent and jesus will still let me into heaven (assuming I haven't blasphemed against the other delusion in his head).

But I could lead a most noble life roaming the globe, helping the poor, curing cancer and giving my entire life to charity and I wouldn't be admitted to heaven because I saw no evidence to believe in jesus, is completely ludicrous.

Every Bible skeptic tries this argument.

Logically it makes no sense, as the Apostle Paul pointed out. If you feel remorse for your actions, why would you keep doing them? On the other hand, it seems impossible to feel remorse in advance (if you knew in advance that you would regret your decisions, then you would change what you were doing in advance), so the excuse of, "I'll sin now, and repent later", seems stupid. God knows if you are truly sorry for your past misdeeds or not.

The letter to the Hebrews, for example, pronounces a harsh curse upon people would would try to use grace as a loophole for more sin; God is not stupid.

One who has truly repented has no desire to sin, even though we struggle with it all our lives and overcome much of it, we as humans sin in too many ways to ever think we will ever be rid of it. There is no excuse for purposely sinning just because we know we will be forgiven and in fact are already forgiven. That's not a real christian, well at least they might be a highly confused one anyway.

No. In Christianity, they still have to be responsible for their sins, admit them and repent of them.

The atonement doctrine was created by the not-so-original Apostle Paul/Saul. He created it trying to make the teachings of Jesus more palatable to the Jews who were still sacrificing animals to atone for their sins. Paul taught the doctrine most convincingly and was able to make converts using it.

But, no, Christians have to 'take up their own cross and bear it".

Couldnt we ask Atheists if unbelief is just an excuse to do whatever they feel like? If you believe in a God who decides right and wrong, then you have to watch what you do. Otherwise you are fee to live by your own rules regardless of what others think or feel.

I felt that your answer has been answered (with the Bible) all ready, but I wanted to throw this thought out there also.

On the contrary, accepting the atonement means an added personal responsibility. The closer one is to Christ, the more is required of that person.

For example, a person who never learns of proper action and fails to do it is simply in error whereas a person who learns of proper action and decides against it is a fool and can be accurately judged a fool.

Not in the least, because the moment one uses it as "an excuse to sin", one has ceased atoning.

Atonement does not merely mean going through the motions of saying "I'm sorry".

No.. but it does redeem! Jesus went to the cross so that we might be 4given, and have eternal life- a second chance! Praise HIM for that, don't question it! But the word says, we must be persecuted like Christ, We will be talked about like Christ, we will be slandered like Jesus Christ-this isn't an easy walk. It's not an excuse or ezpass ticket to Heaven-it's a lifestyle! And we struggle-but we know where our help comes from-FROM THE LORD, OUR GOD, WHO REIGNS IN VICTORY-for HIS word will not return void!

For some it is. Sadly Jesus wants us to live a victorious life thru him but some still love their sin and return to it even tho God washed the sin away.

No, the atonement is our way out when we sin...not an excuse to do so.
