When I was a teen my folks had to meet a guy 3X before we could go out. Frankly it was a bad policy, it encouraged intimacy that you can't get from a public date.

Each time the guy came over we had more opportunities to spark, since we were usually left alone in the family room.

They wanted to be familiar with his appearance. Information that was required: his address, phone number, work place, police record, marital status, even if he were 16 years old my folks required the same information. Guys had to work hard to take my sister and I out.

Absolutely. Invite him over to the house a few days before you go out to hang out and watch TV or for dinner or a cook out so he can get a chance to get to know your parents before you go out. I know this may seem old fashioned, but there's plenty of good reasons for this! And as a mom now, I completely understand and would want to know who my daughter was going to be spending the evening with.

If and when I ever have a date, I won't be expecting it from them to meet my folks.

Although I suppose the same wouldn't be said for "the other way around"

My Dad has told me, always think of her father.
Make sure you get on his side.
Something like that he said I think.

of course every gurl goes threw it! its not bad really you just have to introduce ur date to ur parents that way they can get to know each other and that way ur parents wont have to worry about what kind of person they're daughter is dating! dont worry nothing bad will happen! not unless ur date is a drug dealer and ur parents bought some bad weed from him and is still pissed about it lol! which i highley doubt! dont worry sweety everything will be fine!

My mom used to always make my dates come in before they took me out. She would even go so far as to write their license plate number down in case I disappeared!!

You bring him in when he comes to pick you up and you introduce him to your parents.

Most people had to do it when they were young.
