Exactly correct! You've just expressed the unvarnished truth about the nature of life, human existence, and the purpose of religion.

If it turns out there is not God, then I'll have lived a life full of hope, happiness, and love with less worry and fear than I would have with out my faith in God.

If it turns out that we did evolve over millions of years from single celled organisms then I'll have been correct in believing what I believe about evolution.

If there was no God there would be no atheists, but if that really did happen... man that would suck...
Would we just... disappear when we die? I dont think people would make the bible just because they were scared of dying...
Some religions actually promotes death. Ummm I'm not sure if I'm making sense or not, but uh, we were made from sand, there isnt anything that makes sense for us to be made out of a single celled organism

The first half of that is not a 'what if' it is well established. If people decide to ignore the reality of the universe there is little that can be done for them.

The more we understand about the physics of the world the less we need a god to create and control it. the more we understand of psychology the more we understand the need for developing man to create gods, the more we understand of sociology the better we understand the development and spread of religion.

It will never be possible to disprove god, but it is getting to be less and less like a 'what if other stars had Earth like planets' question and more and more like a 'what if unicorns and dragons were real' question.

What if questions are pointless unless you actually take the time and rationality to pick through the pieces of what you're really trying to ask.
Are you really trying to grasp the concept of the idea of evolution? It doesn't sound like it.
Can you accept religion and evolution at once? Yes - assuming you can be flexible with your interpretation of the Bible.. since that is all it ever will be - an interpretation.
Do you have to throw God (any God) out of the window by accepting Evolution as most other scholars and intellectuals have? No.
Can you be religious and not be judgmental, hateful, evangelical, and narrow minded? YES!!

Definately be a surprise for religous people to find out that...1. they were wrong, 2. they've dedicated their lives to the biggest hoax ever played on humanity and 3. They're not going to be rewarded with any supreme afterlife.

Then again, their's the opposite question to consider. What if the scenario that you pointed out, turns out to be incorrect?

I guess we'll find out this answer when our bodies fall for the final time.

Then many people would have lived miserable lives, been repressed, condemned and suffered poor educations due to a deluded mass of people that thought everyone should live by their standards. Sure the deluded ones may have been blissfully unaware of the damage they caused and were happy, but that does not negate the damage that they did.

I'll take my chances believing that GOD did create the earth and You and Me and if I'm right then I will have ever lasting life...If I am wrong, I lived a good life helping others and making GOOD friends .....

Open your bible to Genesis and start reading... God created everything! Put you faith in Him because without him, life has no meaning. We are not Christians because we have a fear of death, but because Christ makes life worth living and we can live knowing that by trusting in Him, we can go to heaven after we die AND he can take a "messed-up" life, turn it around, and make it right!

What if?

If you are Christian, and it turns out that there is not god, then you have simply lived a moral and healthy life, and you eventually died. You are certainly no worse off than someone who lived an immoral life, hurt or offended lots of other people in the process, and died young as a result of a life of no restraint.
