Why do they want us to wear water camoflauge? Honestly this is BS, if I fall overboard and I am wearing this I am now camoflauged in the Ocean. Does anybody else think this is a stupid idea? Sorry I am not ready to give up my utilities and Jhonny cash uniform So I can look like a Marine on water patrol.

Currently a Reserve recruiter so last time I wore my Jhonny cash was last winter. Also You don't wear the Dixie cup any more It's a ballcap for utilities and Coveralls. The Uniform change is the Camo replaces working uniforms, and a Khaki shirt with black pants replaces Winter working blues and summer working whites. As an MM I spent a lot of time outside of safety zones. (airdales break everything) then as an HT I have spent a lot of time dangling off the side of a catwalk reparing damage from heavy seas. I agree you have to be an idiot to fall over board but the potential is there.

Honestly, I was pissed when they got rid of dungarees because they were so much more comfortable than the new pants. Personally, camoflauge is more comfortable to me and easier to maintain than the Johnny Cashes... With that said, they need to stop changing all the damn uniforms already. Before long we won't recognize our own guys!

WOW... I don't quite understand it either !! I can see it from a durability / expense point of view over dungarees.
I joined JUST a few years after they took us enlisted OUT of the brief "chief's-style" uniform" look. I LOVED dungs... starch the DAYLIGHTS out of them and they were sharp !! I was an AW (Aircrew), and we wore Dungs or Working-dress anytime you weren't flying (so watch the Airedale quips)... and AW's always looked sharper than ANY other division.
I also loved the Johnny Cash Winter, Working-Dress Uniform... I did an instructor tour and it was my 2nd favorite. Personally, I HATED Tropical Whites (even Poly) and Dress Whites. FULL Dress Blues were impractical, but DID look sharp also.
My FAVORITE uniform were AVIATION Greens... very rare, but they were actually a command discretion uniform. For a few years in the 1990's they were VERY popular with us AW's on the West Coast.

It aggrivated me when they changed Dungarees.
The New ones made me feel like I was going to church not work.
The Navy is trying so hard to become "Pretty" and get rid of the drinking cussing sailor image.
The Water Camies have been around for a long time now. They have been talking about changing since the 90's. If they do finally implement you should get a sizable clothing allowance, but we all know that isn't going to happen (The Clothing allowance).

I dunno.. I kinda like the idea of being able to blend into the bulkheads ;) The new uniforms are ridiculous, but that's what everyone thought when we went from dungarees to utilities too. At least we won't look like prisoners anymore. The Johnny Cash's are pretty hot looking uniforms, its a shame they're getting rid of them :( They did such a great job with this new uniform, I can't even wait to get issued new PT gear /end sarcasm

The only change that I heard of was they are going to put a Velcroed flap in the back for when you are at sea.

army area southeast made the shift to whites on April a million. in case you're going extra south, alongside with south Florida, Puerto Rico, or Southern California, then you would be nice to placed on your whites, as they are in whites year-around. As chief (yak rider) pronounced, it would be a good theory to envision with the community recruiter interior the are to make beneficial.

Oh please.
When was the last time you wore your Johnny Cash's anyway?
That stupid tie is an industrial and military hazard.
Besides, if you fall overboard, you have a white hat to mark your location, and you are an idiot? (how does anyone "fall" overboard in the first place?)
Yes, I was in the Navy for five years.
