If atheists don't believe in anything, why are they soooo worried about answering questions in the religion area, and asking them? I just thought this was interesting - are they tryng to get a cheap 2 points? Maybe, just maybe, they're afraid someone will get on here and prove them wrong, so they have to overload everyone on their "belief" that there is nothing.... BTW, a "belief" equals a "religion"......

I am sorry to all who say that this is just a repetition of many other questions.... I only meant it as an honest question, since atheists claim to believe in nothing (from what I have seen anyway, not all of them supposedly) yet just believing that there is nothing causes them to have to work extra hard just to prove it.... It's an interesting, though tiring, debate on every side. I know where I stand in that God is my Savior and Lord and I am so blessed (lucky!) to know Him. I am not putting down others, I'm just asking. If you're so tired of answering these then quit answering. There are lots of other categories out there with new answers popping up all the time. My statement about belief being religion, is true and not ignorant. Every person on earth "believes" in something - and yes, that is religion. I am not referring to believing I will eat dinner with my family. You "believe" there is no God, therefor you are in the "religion" of atheism. thanks for the debate. :)

84% of Americans are supposed to believe in God and in someway live by the Christian Religion. Its the other 16% that we must feel sorry for. Bless them. They will have a day to face that they may have second thoughts.

Just because someone believes that there is no God, doesn't mean that they're not spiritual or that they don't have a belief system. Also, "belief" is not equivalent to "religion" although there is a lot of overlap. One could make the case that 'atheism' is a religion, so what better place than this to make their opinions known?

“Your petitioners are Atheists and they define their beliefs as follows. An Atheist loves his fellow man instead of god. An Atheist believes that heaven is something for which we should work now – here on earth for all men together to enjoy.
An Atheist believes that he can get no help through prayer but that he must find in himself the inner conviction, and strength to meet life, to grapple with it, to subdue it and enjoy it.
An Atheist believes that only in a knowledge of himself and a knowledge of his fellow man can he find the understanding that will help to a life of fulfillment.
He seeks to know himself and his fellow man rather than to know a god. An Atheist believes that a hospital should be built instead of a church. An Atheist believes that a deed must be done instead of a prayer said. An Atheist strives for involvement in life and not escape into death. He wants disease conquered, poverty vanquished, war eliminated. He wants man to understand and love man.
He wants an ethical way of life. He believes that we cannot rely on a god or channel action into prayer nor hope for an end of troubles in a hereafter.
He believes that we are our brother's keepers; and are keepers of our own lives; that we are responsible persons and the job is here and the time is now.”
While many Atheists have an intense interest in religions, enjoy debating theists, and can intelligently discuss the various holy books, Atheism can be discussed and celebrated for its own sake.

Atheism is the disbelief in or denial of EXISTENCE OF GOD.
Such takes various forms, and there are many degree of atheism.
In the absolute sense, it is doubtful if there is such a person as an atheist, for even though one denies the traditionally taught concept of Deity, yet he/she provably worship at some other shrines as, for instance, the shrine of false intellectuality.
At the other extreme, those who profess belief in the sectarian God are in a position at least akin to atheism for their God is defined in effect as an immaterial nothing. Puff?

Number one, do you know that many atheists are spiritual, are you familiar with Buddhists? THEY ARE ATHEISTS.
Number two, atheist know more about religions that you guys do, most of them used to be Christians, after reading the bible they became atheist.
Number three, atheist believe in RATIONAL THOUGHT, not fairy tales.
Now, go get an education, and stop embarrassing yourself.

The only thing really worth responding to there was the fact that you said a "belief" equals a "religion".
Wow.
So, if I believe that my wife and children will meet me for dinner tonight after work, does that mean that my religion is "dinner with my family"?
That's just silly.

I believe that this question is the most tired, inane, senseless question that's asked here 50 times a day.
See? I do believe something.

Disbelief in an omnipotent creator being doesn't mean I can't answer questions, within the parameters of the other religions I've studied. I don't have to believe in what they do to be of help to people. That's illogical.

Yeah, the points mean everything to me.
Atheism is not a religion.
This particular question has been asked, literally, over 40,000 times. Did you not see that when you posted this?
