In the verses below Jesus refers to himself as "I am". The reason the Jews wanted to stone Him was because they knew He called himself God here.

John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
Joh 8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
Joh 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
Joh 8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

The verses below Jesus says He and the father are one. Saying once again He is God. Verses in additional details.

Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one.
Joh 10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
Joh 10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
Joh 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

By the way the question is if Jesus is not God what do these verses mean?

Here it says the Word was God.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Here it is clear that the Word is Christ.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Even in the OT we are told Christ is God. We are told He will be called Immanuel. Which means God with us.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Once again Isaiah says Jesus is God

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Thomas worshiped Jesus and called Him God and Jesus did not rebuke him.

John 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
Joh 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Joh 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

bmdt07 - preach it brother. I agree totally. Yesterday though there were a lot of questions stating Jesus was and is not God. Needed to refute that.

You can go to Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Phillipians 2:5-10

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

and we can go to even more scriptures

.
Thomas the disciple declared concerning Jesus, “Lord and my God” (John 20:28). Jesus does not correct him. Titus 2:13 encourages us to wait for the coming of our God and Savior - Jesus Christ (see also 2 Peter 1:1). In Hebrews 1:8, the Father declares of Jesus, "But about the Son He says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom."

In Revelation, an angel instructed the Apostle John to only worship God (Revelation 19:10). Several times in Scripture Jesus receives worship (Matthew 2:11; 14:33; 28:9,17; Luke 24:52; John 9:38). He never rebukes people for worshiping Him. If Jesus were not God, He would have told people to not worship Him, just as the angel in Revelation had. There are many other verses and passages of Scripture that argue for Jesus’ deity.

and if Jesus wasn't God, then we are fools and are still in our sins...

The most important reason that Jesus has to be God is that if He is not God, His death would not have been sufficient to pay the penalty for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2). Only God could pay such an infinite penalty. Only God could take on the sins of the world (2 Corinthians 5:21), die, and be resurrected - proving His victory over sin and death.

Jesus demonstrated that He was and is God by constantly doing things only God could do, including forgiving sins and accepting worship. If He was not God, but only a man, there is no way His death could have brought about the salvation of all mankind.

John 5:
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
(Don’t worry, if you believe in God you can believe in me.)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
(Jesus is the I am, the way, the truth, & the life (living). You go to the Father but by me (Jesus)).
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
(If you know me you know the Father also: & from now on you know him & have seen him.)
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
(This & John 14: 9 are saying the same: Jesus said, Good grief I tell you over & over & over & over & over & over & over & you still just don’t get it? Why in the world do you keep asking me this time & again, Show us the Father? He that has seen me hath seen the Father how can you be so blind that you say, Show us the Father after I’ve told you that Me & My Father are 1. Don’t believe your own eyes. How about this: If you look at Jesus you look at the Father. Does that help? No. Well geez. Jesus & the Father are 1, soooooooooooooooo Jesus & the Father are the same. Jesus is the body & the Father is the spirit that dwells in Jesus, & the spirit has no man seen. Surely the next verses can be understood, but who knows?)
10 Believest thou not that I am IN the Father, and the Father IN me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth IN me, he doeth the works.
11Believe me that I am IN the Father, and the Father IN me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape (form/figure).
(Why have you not seen his shape/form/figure? Because he is spirit. The Father sent Jesus so you could see Him. I couldn't see the wind except by it's strength.)

John 14:
1: Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
(Don’t worry, if you believe in God you can believe in me.)
6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
(Jesus is the I am, the way, the truth, & the life (living). You go to the Father but by me (Jesus)).
9Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
(This & John 5:9 are saying the same: Jesus said, Good grief I tell you over & over & over & over & over & over & over & you still just don’t get it? He that has seen me hath seen the Father how can you be so blind that you say, Show us the Father after I’ve told you that, Me & My Father are 1. Don’t believe your own eyes. So then, is he god or is he god's son. A really strange and weird circumstance would be for someone to be both himself and his own father at the same time.

Jesus said "Your sins are forgiven". That required Diety. Priests can't really absolve you from sin. God is your judge!
