Yeah you can buy mineral water. As long as it is considered an approved food/drink item you can get it. But why stop there - why not get a bunch of certs mints, some chewing gum, some pepsi, fritos and top it off with a nice fresh lobster. They're all allowed under our stupid food stamp program. Its sad that you can buy things with food stamps that lots of taxpayers, who are paying for those stamps, cannot afford. Yet millions of food stamp recipients feel no shame in this and the government won't stop it - they get a lot of contributions from junk food companies. If you have any integrity you would only buy wholesome food and inexpensive water (only if tap water isn't safe). Otherwise you show everyone how little you need the stamps and how dishonest you are!

Yes you can buy water with food stamps. I've never heard that a person couldn't buy soda either. I've seen people in checkout lines do it before and my sister use to work for our dhs food stamp program and she said they could too. Who told you otherwise?

You can buy anything that can be eaten, including ice. Can't buy alcohol or ready made items--like some stores have a to-go food area (order a plate of food to carry out)--you can't buy that.

Why is it extravagant to buy bottled water? If you don't fully trust your water supply...like I do not..and you have people in the household who have conditions that require careful planning...cancer patients..babies..etc., I don't think its fair to judge someone unless you have been in their shoes. girlfriend..
