Here's the deal.. my boyfriend and I grew up together. We have been together for a while now and have already dropped the "L" bomb... (Said "I love you").. anyway, the other night he looked at me and said "do you love me?" and I said "yes..." and he said "are you sure?" and I was like "okay, what do you want?" hahahaha and he said "Nothing, I just wanted to make sure.." Why would he ask this? He knows I love him, if anything I'm normally the one who is more clingy.... so just wondering why he would ask this - he is like a "tough guy"... so it was weird... any thoughts?

Either one of two things is happening ...

A)He could really be falling for you, but is still somewhat holding back. In which case, he's wanting certainty before he reallys lets go, and allows himself to fall for you completely. Guys don't like being hurt, or run over by a girl. As bad as it is, it makes them feel inferior, and less masculine ... which is never how a guy would want to feel. He just needs to make sure your feelings are real, and you aren't going anywhere, b/c where he's headed, is making himself completely vulnerable.

Actually, now that I've said it, it seems the most logical, so I void my 2nd option.

Guys, whether they admit it or not, love to be reassured. Not to say you should tell us you love us or we're the most amazing thing ever to happen to you 47 times a day. Guys just really like to feel needed by the person (GF/wife) that they are involved with, its a really affirming feeling, really makes us feel good. He probably just wanted to make sure you felt the same way about him that he does about you.. its nothing to worry about.

It is a possibility that he is quite insecure with himself . . . but some guys need a little reassurance whether or not they are insecure. Instead of just blowing the whole situation off as you guys did last time he asked, why not make him explain himself.

Or maybe he is being tempted somehow and needs the reassurance that you love him so, in his mind. he can have a reason not to stray. Boys and Girls constantly need the reassurance, especially if they do not know what real love is.

Everbody needs a little reinforcement every once in awhile....that was his time. No big deal.

Maybe he just needed some reassurance. I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes, they get sensitive too :)

He just wants that assurance...do yourself a favor and quit overthinking that.
