Should I stay away from reds & pinks because it is sweetest day... or should I go with reds and pinks, I was kind of thinking a light pink with brown, or like a burnt orange and buttercup yellow. I want two colors just having a hard time choosing. Please help!!!!

I'm getting married that day too (!) but have never heard of Sweetest Day. So I looked it up for those of you (like me) who had no idea what this was..here ya go: http://www.creativechocolates.com/sweetestday.html

I personally am doing fall colors, but instead of using darker shades, im sticking with lighter colors of orange & yellow (various shades) and a little bit of pink.

Good luck!!

I don't think a lot of people even know what the official colors for Sweetest Day are (or even what Sweetest Day is, for that matter...) I have always liked the look of fall colors, like browns, maroons, or burnt oranges, for fall weddings, and also if I were getting married in fall, I would want to carry a bouquet of sunflowers and tiger lilies. If you're going to just do two colors, go for maroon and gold- not tacky gold, but more of a bronze-y gold. It will reflect the natural beauty of the season. Bonus points if you hold the ceremony in a garden with beautiful fall leaves everywhere. Congrats!

Hi there! I'm getting married on October 20th of this year - also Sweetest Day! We don't celebrate that day, and it really just happened by accident. We stuck to black JCrew cocktail dresses for the ladies, and black tuxes for the men. very sleek. We're putting color into the mix with very bright fall flowers. Just some suggestions!

One thing to consider - some florists jack up the prices b/c it *is* Sweetest Day - so you may want to do your research ahead of time, and perhaps stay away from the roses or something if this is the case. We're going with gerber daisies and spider mums, mostly.

Good luck!

I'm getting married on October 13, 2007 and my birthday is on Sweetest Day - October 18, 2007. I would suggest the burnt colors. I actually have my bridesmaids in a wine color dress and have burnt yellows and oranges in their bouquets.

You should choose whatever colors you like regardless of it being Sweetest Day. It's cute that you're getting married that day, but it's really an insignificant quasi-holiday. Sweetest Day is just a "Hallmark" holiday, made up by candy makers back in the 1920s to sell more chocolate. Apparently, it isn't even celebrated in all parts of the country.

Well, I'm getting married in October as well (not for a few years though... we need to save up for the wedding), and my colors are going to be traditional fall colors... deep reds, dark greens, browns, burnt orange. I think pink and brown would be lovely, a perfect combination of "sweetest day" and the "fall" atmosphere.

Ask your future-hubby what he thinks, if he's into that stuff.

Congratulations! We're wedding date twins! :)

I knew that it was Sweetest Day when we chose our date, but we aren't taking it into consideration. We're doing a Black and White wedding...choose whatever colors you have your heart set on! Most people don't really celebrate Sweetest Day anyway, and won't notice whether you coordinate with it or not!

Congrats again, and have fun planning!

Congrats! October is a great month to get married in. My husband and I choose a date in October as well. I went with fall colors for my wedding to go along with the season. I had a colro of roses that were were called "burnt".... they were reddish and yellow and looked perfect for the month of October, plus it went well with the wedding color which was Hunter Green. Good Luck with your plans.
