pinworms are charecterized by intense pruritis (Itching) around the anus. The worms come out to lay eggs on your but cheek near the anus. This requires medical treatment to go away. They are microscopic. To see them, the doctor will take apiece of scotch tape and put on your but and than look under microscope (Scotch Tape Test). If he sees worms, positive, otherwise just an itchy but. Hope this helps!

Pinworm In Stool

Both. Female worms come out at night and deposit eggs around the anal opening. The eggs cause intense itching, so the person scratches, getting eggs under fingernails and re-infecting themselves and others when they put their fingers in their mouths. Obviously, children are more at risk.

Even at night one rarely catches sight of a pinworm. Infestation is much easier to diagnose by finding eggs. Early next morning, take clear (repeat, CLEAR) cellophane tape and stick it several times against the anus (the rectal opening), then stick it onto a microscope slide provided by your doctor. The eggs are easily seen under the microscope.

If you have pinworms the whole family living in the house needs to be treated. You will be given medications. They can be seen in the stools but that doesn't mean the infestation has cleared up.

Yes and no. The dead ones come out in the stool. The live ones come out when it is dark. I am not sure how they check now but it used to be that you had to wait for a child to sleep and then take scotch tape, put it over the rectum and remove it. If they have pin worms the eggs would be captured on the tape. They are contagious, in other words, can be spread quickly from person to person. It takes medication to kill them. Go to the doctor if you suspect you have them cause you can get rid of them with a bowel movement.
