No we are not faking it. I used to be Catholic also, then agnostic, then atheist, and now I am a Christian. I didn't choose to be because I needed security, one day God just got my attention and I have been a believer ever since. Being in the Catholic religion is allot different than being say Baptist. Catholics keep a routine in which it is hard to truly get to know the Lord. Visit a regular Christian church sometime and you will see the difference. We truly get to know God and learn what he is all about. I hope you find what you are looking for. And I pray that you choose the path that is best for you. Take Care.

I think many people believe in GOD
but aren't " true believers"
Chilren are the major reason people continue with a faith
they don't necessarily PRACTICE
what i mean is , you don't read the bible, or holy writtings, and your a SINNER ( we all are)
The catholic faith is the worst when it comes to feeling guilty about things.
Anyhows
I don't see how you can acheive a false sense of security thru religion, I mean if you don't really believe then god already knows this and going thru the motions won't help
but its valuable to teach children morals and virtues and provides a positive envornment, and a good community to belong to.
I believe in GOD, and practice my faith, I don't always follow all the rules but I try. I could probably do better.
As a Bahai we believe its up tp every individual to investigate the truth, which mean we needs to learn about Every faith including our own,
frankly It would be timebetter spent than typing here in YA
but like I said, I don't ALWAYS do what I am supposed to do
It doesn't make me a NON Believe or a faker
I was a Catholic, active and everything
but truthfully It was so boring sometimes, and I never really felt IT
I investigated, LDS, and Baptist, and Other religions but for me Being a Bahai made me a better BAHAI
I feel like I can serve God Better.
and I feel better about God.
I am still the same person, a big fat sinner, but I know that what I am teaching my children is right, and I feel better about my connection with God.
Hope this helps
Meg

Yes, the majority is using it as a vehicles for political, personal, business purposes. The minority are sincere and is genuine in their belief. Narrow is the path that lead to the Kingdom of God and few travel on it. It is a medical fact and a statistic that people who profess truth religion are healthier, peaceful, helful and healthier. It is not true for those faking it . There are the wolf in sheep clothing. It is also prophecizes that in the last days. "They will have a form of religion, love to study the truth but having no power thereof" so they are faking it. It is an empty can with no content and substance. I am surrounded by good Muslim neighbour but some use this religion to their political evil purpose in being terrorist, murderer, and loving no peace. This is not the Muslim neighbor that I know and lived with. They are kind and good neighbour.

I love this question. You have brought up an intelligent point. Based upon what I've seen, they do fake it! They don't know the book at all...they pretend to and then shove it in your face that you aren't religious enough...by even being with someone like you or me, they are already breaking their "religious laws". So they don't ever really follow the guidelines, now do they? I have undergone spiritual experiences because I have chosen to lead a spiritual life and have studied the book for my personal use ONLY. I am not religious though...you speak to God in your mind all the time (the building won't make a difference). Yes, most of them don't even know what is really going on in their religions and even more so the world. It is an incredibly false sense of security (if you don't really get it). And no - you are not insecure. You are simply stating a question. Yeesh!

i hope that they are mostly just deceived by their teachings. the bible says many times that their are no teachers for the lords sheep, ( us ). some are fakers, but to the people who are on the outside of their groups they show their true colors, usually, by an outsider bringing forth trials by the hand of god. you never know when you are entertaining an angel. the person who may seem to be very bad and far away from god and the true body of christ just may be greatly advanced over you in the way of christ and the knowledge of the truths of god. what people do not understand they call evil. some of the greatest works today that people in christ are doing for god, most supposed christians say that these people are far from truth and are very lost. i say, look before your eyes and see that most the world is now deceived as the bible told us would be in the day that the true light would shine on the world and the world as it stands will fade away, due to this light that will shine so stronge, and we will right here on earth bring forth our mutually agreed heavenly kingdom. we together as a whole with true love for one another will listen to each other and put the true foundation back in place and from their our children will be able to survive and put up the walls and decorate, etc.........if most the world is deceived, as we do mostly all agree that we are in these last days, why would i beleive the majority opinion of the truths of the interpretations of the bible. i know what i am seeing now is real and true, although most tell me that i am far away from the truth. but their are some out there that understand, and i will be one to carry the sparks to bring forth this day of the lord. will you be another. some do not want the truth to get out, because they will lose their livelyhood........why do not they just say they were wronge and show the spirit of true leaders. many of these people are in great positions with many pupils, who by their one voice could drastically change the world for the good by far, if only they would muster the gut to do so............go with your heart...listen to all, but let love guide you.

People are funny things, in my opinion. Many people believe in the sense of belonging to a church gives, so it's like a social club for those who believe in what they are being taught. There are those who are false, who seek to use a church for some sort of personal gain. Then there are others who see a church for what it was meant to be, a sanctuary from the rigors of modern life.

no, not everyone fakes it. Some people truly believe that there is a higher power. It's normal to raise these questions because non of us have seen him. We were raised to believe in God. You have to find this on your own. Just like you, all of us are lost about this concept too.

Yes.
It's normally picked up from childhood... and then it continues on at weddings, funerals, and other solemn events..
I think most people realize that religion is mostly just for show and comfort..
I believe this because there are so many other reasons a person would choose to be religious than actually believing in it:
- meeting people at church
- community connections
- moral instruction
- to appease parents / relatives
- haven't actually considered beliefs seriously
... the very tiny group of religious people that are left after those considerations are removed are the only ones who I'd consider are really taking it seriously.

Faith & religions are 2 different things.
Religion is a set of laws for you to keep if not you won't get salvation.
Faith is believing in a saviour despite how condemned you are.
Religious people boast about how many hours they pray & how many hours they read the Bible a day, how many days they fast etc. They condemn people for their mistakes.
Faith is about admitting how helpless you are & how much your saviour loves you instead of how much you love your saviour. Faith give people the power to overcome their mistakes & get on with life.

Most people in this country and in any local church (in my opinion) are just "church-goers". They wear their Sunday best and show up to church out of obligation or tradition and don't lead a life that is reflective of scripture (i.e. ten commandments -- no sex before marriage, loving your neighbors, do not use God's name in vain/don't swear, etc). With that said, there are a small, but devoted group of Chrisitians/Catholics out there that have so much grace and compassion it truly makes you think how wonderful God is to have put them in your lives. They're out there, but I think you're right. Most people "fake" it.
