It will begin as conventional war. One thing US Army has demonstrated is that is is well designed to destroy organized military formations. However, it is less adapted to destroy an enemy that can melt into population and engage in low-intensive, protracted conflict.
If there is indeed a war with Iran, most of its military hardware and organized formations will be crushed. However, Iran has the capacity to engage in protracted guillera warfare. It has been studying the current conflict in Iraq and has stockpiled large quantities of small arms, RPGs, and materials needed to make IED. Also, their revolutionary guard has been probably assisting the Iraqi insurgents... so it won't be pretty.
However, one thing is certain. It won't be a global war. It will be limited, localized conflict with limited TOA. Iran is isolated, so it won't be able to receive support from other countries.

No it would not be because Russia. China and other major powers are not going to come to Iran's aid. The conventional forces could inflict heavy causalities on American and Allied forces but they would lose in the end. It could be continued as a guerrilla war but one of the things keeping it going in Iraq is the Iranian supplies and assistance; again, who would be helping them as no or little support could come from bordering countries.
It could spread out side the borders as a guerrilla war but that does not constitute World War 3. World War 3 will be fought with nuclear weapons and, probably or even more likely, biological weapons-the only questions are to what extent and how widespread. Twenty years in the military and the biological weapons are much scarier to me then the nuclear-once they are out there will be no control and mutation could cause even the antidotes available to the developer or developed to stop working. They are the genie in the bottle people should be really concerned about. They are the "poor man's" weapons of mass destruction though you would have to be willing to risk sacrificing everything and everyone, including yourself and your family/country to use them.

Should another war break out as anticipated with Iran was the theatre of war, the situation as you suggest could be entirely different from that if Iraq! With huge interests in Iran, Russia and China could play a totally different role. Thus, basically, the war should be launched without the approval of the UN Security Council. And, expecting Russia and China to be bystanders would be beyond anyone's imagination. So, the setting would be perfect for a grand third world war the consequences of which could equally be beyond anyone's imagination!

First of all to be a wod war it would have to invlove a large amount of countries from every continent, which last time i checked Iran didnt have a whole lot of friends.
I think you would find in a conventional war Iran's Millitary woud be destroyed within a couple months, through consistent air bombardment.
America would gain Air superiority within hours of any war, thus giving them free rain to bomb the **** out of Irans ground forces, and infrastructure.
The problem though would be the same as Iraq, with guerilla forces which the US still has no succesfull model to win such a war, and since the people of Iran are not as divided as in Iraq, occupying US forces would be at much bigger threat than in Iraq.

Believe me this war is going to be big and will leave many corpses on earth because this war will involve many countries. Russia and China are ready for the USA, why do you think Russia keep saying the sanctions against Iran should not be harsh even though Russia is a permanent member of a security council? This will force the use of nukes instantly, i am currently in Asia and know what is real going on. USA should not just say Iran is a kid, nobody what be to under anybody now in this world.

No. The lethality of modern weaponry makes the mass attacks of WWII a thing of the past. Iran, with its substantially larger population would be somewhat more difficult to subdue than Iraq, but it could still be done. Of course we expended most of our cruise missile stocks in the Iraq war, and I'm not sure of the status of production of the new models, which have superior loiter time. Probably we would have to rely on manned aircraft and would have to accept substantially higher losses. And we don't have the manpower to police the country like we are doing in Iraq. We can destroy their ability to make war, but occupation just isn't possible.

War with Iran will not be WW3 since much of Europe or Asia or even South America wont join in. It will be a high intensity conflict but its scope will be limited to middle east only.
Nuclear weapons cannot be ruled out completely as US is likely to resort to tactical weapons to make up for its lack of available ground forces.

It is unlikely to be WW3 but the US wouldnt be able to mobilise enough troops to pacify or control the country. nlike Iraq the Iranians havent had their country battered by sanctions and all their military hardware dismantled by the UN. They are a military competent country who can defend their homeland very well. Proof of this comes by Saddams defeat after 8 years of war with them, Saddam had the worlds 4th largest miltary and Uk, US and Russian technology and he couldnt get them. Therefore a undisciplined and fairly incompetent army such as the US would take heavy casualties.

Just "War of the world"
With the Aliens and the space-ship with the Trojan Horse.
Just messing up with brains and brawns.
Ever wonder how the dead Mummy were kicking the butts of living human kind?
Revealation 16.13-14
Just do the Exorcism with "Jingle Bell" like the "Day of Triffids" in running the ghost out of town.

I think "war" with Iran would be limited to using air strikes to take out their nuclear and possibly military facilities.
I can't see a condition where we would put ground troops on their country as we did in Iraq.
It wouldn't be WWIII because it would be limited in nature, not global.
g-day!
