For a little while you would be "the new people". Hopefully, those nice new people!

LOL.. mostlikely you would get noticed as the new face around, but i don't think there would be any adverse affects. Any area you move to if the house you move in was owned by a friendly or well know person, then yes you'll be know as the person who moved into "Joe's" house, until they get to know you.

Furthermore, if you are happy about the area, it is safe for your kids, and you can make a good living, then what does it matter if you stand out a little. Sometimes it's a good thing!

Really, in ANY sized city or town, there will always be people who don't get to know the new people so they are just "those people who bought the Smith's house". Don't let that stop you. Do be careful. I'm from a small town and they are notorious for "getting in your business" and judging you. Do what is best for you and your kids.

Don't fret. Your neighbor's will most likely be talking more about what happened to "Old Joe".

You'll standout as much as you want to. Stake your name to claim within your new surroundings. A small town is a wonderful place to make a new start.

Enjoy your move and don't worry about what others think.
