an easy food they know how to make and always burn it or make it unedible in some form??

And if it's a "family joke", tell me the story behind it...

Mine is Grands Bisquits, ya know the canned kind.
Do not know what my problem is, but I burn them nearly every time I make them..

My family ALWAYS reminds me not to make HOCKEY PUCKS!!!!

Story behind that is:
One night I made bisquits, caught them on fire in the oven, when we got them out, the bisquits were black and hard like HOCKEY pucks!!

Since then, I let my daughter make them, she hasn't burned them yet.

Rice Krispy Treats and of course they are my hubby's favorite!

Doesn't matter how i make them, they always get hard as a rock. I love to bake/cook so i don't know what the problem is; maybe they are too simple.

My mom or sister usually end up making them for him, as they know he loves them and i screw them up.

The first year we were married I was put in charge of topping the sweet potato casserole with marshmallows at HIS family christmas gathering.
They gave me a bag of marshmallows, the casserole and told me to do the topping while they did some other things.
Being a new bride and never having cooked much, I proceeded to put the entire bag on top of the casserole and put it in the oven. When we went to get it out---yes, the whole oven was covered in melted marshmallows!
So they always wanted me to make that every year after that.
they never let me live that one down, even now that we are divorced!!!

My daughter was about twelve and one day she asked me how to make potato salad. Seems she was craving it and wanted to make it on her own.

So I told her...........peel the potatoes, boil the eggs, add mayonaise, mustard, salt and pepper.

Well, I went for a walk and when I came home, I asked her how the potato salad turned out. She asked me to taste it and tell her what she did wrong, that it didn't taste like mine.

So, I took a bite.........."Rachel, honey," I said to her......"did you COOK the potatoes?"

Seems I left that part out in my instructions. So now it's a family joke to NOT let her make the potato salad. BTW, she'll be 21 next week.
